Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

So it's really weird to me

that some of you ladies never had contractions. I had BH from about 30 weeks, and then hardcore contractions the night I went into labor. Theeeen I wasn't dilating and they gave me pitocin, so I had pitocin contractions that made me beg for an epi.

If you didn't have contractions is it because all of you had scheduled C/S? If so you're so brave, I was terrified of the C/S room and thanked every deity imaginable that I didn't have to go in there.

  • Totally off subject, but I've been gone for a while and before that I noticed you were gone for a while. Nice to "see" you back!!

  • I had oNe contraction on my own while I was being hooked up to the pitocin for an induction (11 days late). But then I had some SERIOUS contractions before I got my epi 8 hours later!
  • I didn't have any with my first pregnancy.  I didn't have a schedule C/S, but DS was breech, so they did a section pretty soon after my water broke.

I have had B-H contractions for about the last month.  I was pretty terrified at first and went into L&D to be evaled for pre-term labor.

  • I had not a one. ?I have no idea what contractions feel like. ?I'm really afraid of going into labor early this time (before my scheduled c/s at 39w) and having no idea what's going on.

And I was more afraid of vaginal birth than c/s, so I was very happy about my planned c/s!?

I have had B-H contractions for about the last month.  I was pretty terrified at first and went into L&D to be evaled for pre-term labor.

I was having awful contractions long before my water broke, and they actually broke it manually. I don't think I ever realized that you could not have any contractions at all before your water broke!

  • I never had one or a BH. Of course I had my DD at 34 weeks so i didn't really have a chance and I'm planning a repeat c/s for this one, so once again, I'll probably never feel a contraction.
  • I had not one contraction that I could feel.  I was two weeks late and wasn't dilated.  After two failed inductions that included the maximum dosage of Pitocin, I had a c-section.  My DS's head was too big, we discovered when he was born.  The doctor told me there is no way he would have been born vaginally.  So, if I have another child, I will have to have a c-section.  I'm not the least bit afraid of that because I had a great experience and recovered quickly.
  • Personally, I didn't have any that I felt...I was induced at 39 weeks due to some issues (high risk, really low fluid, bed rest for 10 weeks)...I was on 30 hours of pitocin but never dilated past 1cm. I had some contractions that could be seen on the monitor, but all I felt was a slight tightening across my belly! I ended up w/a section because my water broke on its own 6 hours into my induction...so it was broken for more than 24 hours.

  • I was induced and was in labor for 20 hrs before I had a c/s, I had false labor and even drove to the hospital after having contractions for five hours only to be sent home.  The only reason I had a c/s was I had little progress and DS's heart rate was affected by my contractions.  For my next delivery, if and when I get pregnant with our second child, I will likely not have any contractions as vbac isn't allowed at my local hospital.  It seems a little odd to me too to have a child without any contractions.
  • I didn't have any contractions or BH.  I was induced at 41 weeks after the NST didn't go well.  Once I was induced I felt some irritability but no real contractions.  I ended up having an emergency cs soon after the dr broke my water.

lol...I didn't know it either.  I thought I had peed on myself.  I took a shower, ate breakfast, and did a load of laundry before I realized that I was continuing to leak and should probably go in.
