Kidding! I ate lunch meat my entire pregnancy and Asher Gabriel Joseph was born perfectly healthy on Thursday September 3 at 1:39am. He weighed 8 lbs 12 oz. My birth story:
On Tuesday Sept 1, (at 39 weeks and 3 days) I started having contractions at 5am. They were 10 minutes apart, so I stayed home until DH got off work and we went to the hospital. They were 8 min apart at this time. They checked me, and I was only 2 cm dilated, so they sent us home after a few hours. I spent a couple hours on the couch in excruciating pain, and finally when my contractions were 4 min apart we went back to the hospital at 10pm. Worst.Drive.Ever. They checked me again, still only 2cm! They gave me a shot of morphine and sent me home at 1am. After an entire evening of contractions 4 min apart and increasing in length, I had had enough. Wednesday Sept 2 - 6am, back to the hospital. FINALLY some progress - I was 3-4 cm dilated and they checked me in to labour and delivery.
The rest of the day is rather blurry for me, but I know the following events happened: I received an epidural, they broke my water, started me on oxytocin, stopped oxytocin because the baby wasn't digging it, let me wait it out a bit, checked me again and I was 5 cm, started oxytocin again and increased it slowly...then, at 1am on Thursday September 3 babys heart rate dropped too low so the decision was made to have a c section.
Asher and I are doing extremely well, he is breastfeeding great after a couple days of frustration (I found it really hard to get into it at the hospital when I was being interrupted every 1/2 hour by nurses and doctors coming to check on us, but now that we are home he's doing awesome). He is the most precious thing I have ever laid eyes on, and DH is such an amazing support and a wonderful father. I am truly blessed!
I wish you all a quick and easy delivery - thank you for the support over the last few months!! See you on the other side!!
