Are you talking about your baby? Are you calling one of us baby? What?
But really, most private plans don't cover maternity, so look into Medicaid/ state coverage. If you or DH have an open enrollment coming up and you can pay the premium, you can sign up and per HIPAA laws, group coverage policies cannot classify pregnancy as a pre-existing condition.
You are aware that this is not Twitter and you are not limited to only 140 characters. You can actually write out an articulated question. It might actually allow us to provide an answer of some use.
Ok, you seemed to have possessed the ability to speak in your BFP post. Have you lost that? Seriously, there isn't a word limit on posts, you can put more than one.
Sorry my computer likes to freeze up. Ok so today i got a call from my ob office saying that i was not covered. I then called my insurance company and they said i have not been covered at all. I changed my coverage FOR maternity, and added dental and vision as well. I dont even wear glasses. For just incase in the future. So i know i had it. Anyway they are now saying it is preexisting and will not cover me. Today has been a bad day. I am calling about medicaid tomorrow. I think we might be able to qualify, hopefully.
Are there any other options or ideas? Anything would really be great!
That stinks. Maybe confirm this with HR at the employer that provides the insurance? I didn't know pregnancy could be excluded as a pre-existing condition.
Definitely check into Medicaid and WIC if you can't make any headway with the insurance company.

Was there any paperwork involved in the change? or did you speak with someone in HR about it that could back you up? Unfortunately, if you aren't paying the correct premium sometimes for more than 30 days before you find/get pregnant, you won't qualify.
I think your only option is to pay OOP, or to look into government programs. Depending where you are, they most likely have low cost insurance. Or you can look into medicaid or WIC. GL

I don't think pregnancy should be considered a pre-existing condition. Don't give up so easily. Talk to your HR department, keep calling the insurance company.
Well, if you are talking about how to take care of yourself and baby, go to your local health department, they can help you get sent up with prenatal care. Also find a public hospital to deliver at, you will be responsible for the bills, but you can usually pay them a very little amount at a time, if you do not qualifiy for medicaid or anything. After your baby is born, you will loose your health care, but your baby should still be covered under the same healthcare that was used for your prenatal visits.
If you are asking if you should have a baby because you don't have any insurance, no. Taxpayers should not have to pick up your health bills because you decide you want a baby. I have a hard enough time surviving right now, don't get me started on supporting people who don't need it.
On how to obtain health care/assistance with no insurance, I can't really answer that question for you because I don't know where you live. Every state offers different levels of coverage that bridge the gap between medicaid and what you can pay.
Here in washington, dc where I live there is a really excellent clinic funded by private foundations (*not* by taxpayer $$) that I would recommend you call. But it really depends on where you live.
Sorry all those people up the thread were so rude.
I think that Children's Health Insurance Programs (CHIP -- they have different names in different states) will usually cover maternity care, even if you have a higher income than would normally allow you to qualify for Medicaid.
And I would also encourage you to go to your HR department, as others have suggested. Good luck!
Re: No insurance. What are some options?
Options?
Order double mushroom pizza for dinner (with extra sauce, but not extra cheese).
Paint a bathroom light blue with yellow window trim and white ceiling. Get yellow ducks for the walls.
Wear a toe ring.
What options are you asking about?

Medicaid or call your local health department and see if they can give you some information on where to go to get help.

Kelcat, I think your response was inappropriate.
