3rd Trimester

Tonight is my last night of work!!

Horray!  I had originally planned on working up until I go into labor, but these 12 hr night shifts are really wearing on me.  After tonight I'm supposed to be off for a week and then come back and work four 12's in a row.....at 39 wks pregnant.  No thank you!  I can barely walk as it is right now because of all the pelvic pain I'm having.  Hopefully tonight will go by fast, but I have a feeling it's just going to drag on, and on, and on....

Any other ladies planned on working right up to the end but decided it was just too much?  I guess if I had a desk job it would be different, but having a job that requires me to be on my feet most of the time is just too much!

Re: Tonight is my last night of work!!

  • I stopped working at 37 weeks, I just couldnt take the commute anymore or the stress of the job.  I wanted to go all the way, but sheet happens!!!
  • Loading the player...
  • WOW! I do 8 hour night shifts maybe 40-50% of the time, I cannot imagine doing 12 hour shifts. And another thing... Mine are a desk job, so the majority of the time I am sitting.
  • I'm a nurse and do 12 hour night shifts too. I am going to try to work til the end but they are already killing me! at least my coworkers are great and try to give me an easy load!
  • Thats nice of your co-workers.  I'm a Surgical Tech in L&D and we actually haven't been that busy lately, which is nice, I can stay off my feet when we're not busy.  But in the last week I have developed this HORRIBLE pelvic/groin pain that is getting progressively worse.  It's so bad tonight I can hardly walk!  I look like a weeble wabble! LOL  5 more hours!!

  • I am a nurse to and i was hoping to make it to delivery but I gave up at 38 weeks. Though a desk job my sound appealing, my issue during my pregnancy was siatic pain and it was worse trying to get out of a chair. so i opted to do all the run around patient care stuff instead. earlier in the week i started to have stronger BH contractions and back spasms  and feet swelling during the night and not been able to sleep. I had to call out tues and wed. but on wed. I said to my boss i think i reached my point. Now i'm just gonna nest, rest, and catch up on some soap operas until my baby decides to come.

DH thinks he will come next week but we will see Big Smile

  • I work 7-9 hour shifts on my feet 5 days a week at 38 weeks. I am moving around pretty much the whole time. Men esp think I need a stool to sit on. I can say that I haven't had any swelling at all. I have started to have BH, and early labor pains since Saturday. I go to the dr today,so I might be out of work regardless of me wanting to work up till till the end.
