We finally have a name for DS's eating disorder

It's called oral tactile defensiveness with hypersensitivity. It's a sensory disorder and it explains so much of the feeding problems that we have been going through for months now.

Today's feeding therapy appt actually went quite well. The therapist seemed helpful so maybe my first impression of her was wrong. We have a long road ahead of us, but at least now I am getting some answers about what we've been experiencing. I have alot to read and research.

It breaks my heart that DS has this but hopefully with therapy, it will get better. I am hopeful for the first time in months.

I'm glad you got some answers hon. I'm going to go look in to this and see maybe if Max has something like this. He still won't eat finger foods....

It is a relief to know what it is. And now you can really begin the process to get past this. Glad it went well. Good luck and let us know how things are going. I'm very interested in what they have you do with your LO.
