3rd Trimester

Kudos to all you who have been working this whole time!

I am a teacher and school was out for the summer when I was about 23/24 weeks--I didn't work during the summer.

I just went back yesterday at 35 weeks and it's totally brutal.  My back hurts, my ankles hurt, I'm hot and uncomfortable, and the kids don't even arrive until tomorrow, lol!

I don't know how you ladies have been doing it all summer, but wow, you are my heroes!

  • I am a teacher as well and I feel your pain.  I worked over the summer tutoring and completing a summer stipend project.  These past two weeks at school have been brutal though.  We had kids for the first time yesterday and it was exhausting.

  • Just wait until tomorrow!  I don't know what grade you teach, but I have 2nd graders.  I'm on my feet 24/7, and they are sooooo swollen.  I had a pair of Crocs that I wore in the lake (so my feet wouldn't get roughed up by rocks).  I ended up taking those babies into school and leaving them there.  I wear them like slippers.  They're hideous and purple, but I wear them all day.  Do you do Writer's or Reader's Workshops?  I use my computer chair w/ wheels to scoot around to do my conferencing.  That helps a little.

I teach high school.  I moved a desk to the front of the room so I can sit on it and I got a podium to lean on.. hopefully that will help.

I don't know your collaboration schedule or how your principals are, but I take 15 minutes of my prep time and do NOTHING.  Sometimes I sit at my desk and put my feet up.  My kids' special is at 12:30, so it's a perfect time for a break.  My principals are family men and just laugh if they come in my room and see me relaxing.

  • I totally understand!! I started back with kids yesterday and I'm totally pooped! My old prep is first period and then my afternoon is jam packed. I teach special education and so I'm all over the building and standing for the majority of the day. I don't know how I'm going to last these next 4 weeks!!

  • PS: I'm jealous that you all are starting now. We started with meetings the on Aug. 18th and had kids on the 20th!
  • I have been back at work for the past week and a half, but the kids just started yesterday.  I was in serious pain last night!  My feet are swollen, my back hurts, and I am exhausted.  I have already started my countdown to maternity leave!

  • I've been feeling pretty good so far, but I am also trying to finish up my Master's this year.  Right now I am teaching third grade, taking a class and working on my thesis.  Can't wait til I am done with all of this!

  • I've been back at school for almost 4 weeks now (1 week of inservice and 3 weeks of kids).  I get yelled at all the time for not putting my feet up, but it is really hard for me not to walk around to my students since I teach middle school art.  In the last 3 weeks my feet have gotten huge to where I can only wear flip flops (my pair of crocs don't even fit).  I've only got 4 1/2 more days though (and admin still hasn't found a sub for my room).

  • We've been in school for two weeks now, and I'm secretly wishing LO arrives at 37 weeks, just because this year has been so crazy and I'm exhausted. I obviously want her to bake as long as need be, but if she makes it to full term, I'm not going to complain if she makes an early appearance!
  • I actually asked the doc today if he would sign me out of work, but he said that there wasn't anything medically that would keep me from working (I teach 3rd grade).  So, I am just going to have to tough it out.  What is hard is I am on the 2nd floor and am going to have to use the elevator more, and that thing is sooooo slow.  I just can't see myself trying to teach sitting down with my feet up - because they are swelling like balloons!  I would be happy if this baby decides to come a little early (full-term though).

Baby #2: 12 cycles, 1 failed FET, natural miracle but m/c at 9 weeks then another natural miracle that stuck! 9-30-09

    TTC #3 - 4 cycles - no BFP yet!
  • I teach preschool (also did summer camp this summer) and I had to quit at 34 weeks. I just couldn't take it anymore. I don't know how all the ladies on here do it either!
