designer maternity jeans...not going to happen

I am a big fan of designer jeans...they are my weakness.  I don't have many pairs and I take extra good care of them so that they last for a long time.  I even have a hard time trying on jeans from stores I used to go to all the time for jeans (Banana Republic, Gap, etc.), even though I still shop there for most of wardrobe. I really don't want to sound uppity but does anyone have any good places that I could get cute maternity jeans? I talked to DH about maybe getting ONE pair of designer jeans, and he said "no way, you'll only wear them for a few months anyways" which I completely agree with, it will only be temporary. I just thought I would broach the subject with him, just in case. He feels bad that I've been sick and has been very good to me lately. Anyways, I need some jeans and need some guidance.  I looked on Ebay, but I'm a tall girl and most of the jeans on Ebay are too short for me- plus, I've ordered from Ebay before and didn't like what I got when I actually recieved it.

With that said...I'm open to anywhere and anystore...as long as the denim is nice and they don't cost a fortune.  Any ideas?

  • I hear ya!  I don't have an answer but I love designer Jeans as well.  I have my eye on a pair of Citizens but I just can't spend $200 on a pair of jeans that I will wear for a few months.

  • If you like them that much, and plan on getting pregnant again, I would invest in a nice pair of designer maternity jeans!  Check out Pea in a Pod's website.

Otherwise, the only maternity jeans I used in my last pregnancy, and again this time, are the Gap long and leans.  I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • DO IT!

I put on my Joes or my TR and I feel like a million bucks! Plus you can wear them for a little while after you deliver, do it...do it...do it!!!

  • I would use Google to look for small, independent maternity shops near you.  I have a little boutique near me called Posh Maternity and they have exactly the kind of stuff you'd probably love.

  • I got my jeans for A Pea in the Pod and I love them. They have a bunch on sale right now online.

  • Do you have any upscale thift shops near you?  with designer clothes at bargains?  maybe they have maternity sections?
  • I bought Maternity jeans from Gap- the long and lean and honestly, I think they are great jeans. I also like designer jeans but wear alot of the long and leans for more every day use.  They arent really that cheap though, the pair I got was 69.50.

If your husband will give in to the designer jeans, try Nordstrom.  I did try one a few pairs there but I couldnt justify the cost.

I agree. I have a pair of Citizens maternity jeans that I wore until the very end of my first pregnancy.  I'm happily wearing them again, and so  I definitely feel like I've gotten my money's worth.

  • I got some jeans from Gap and I have been happy with them.  I got them when they were on sale and they were about $25.  I got the long and lean maternity jean.

  • I'm not going to get designer maternity jeans. I'm going to wear my Seven's with a band a long as I can. I had two girlfriends wear their prepregnancy jeans to the end.

Also, remember you will probably still be in maternity for a little while after giving birth so it may be longer than just a few months.

    :)

  • I'm with you on this one!  I love my Rock & Republics but couldn't dish out that much $$ on maternity jeans.  Sounds funny but I found some super cute prego jeans at Kohls!!
  • I have been wearing jeans from the Gap.  I am a tall girl and they are super long(obviously the longs) and although they are tagged as bootcut, the leg opening seems much wider than a boot cut (which I like).  They were $70 and have lots on their website for the same price.  GL!

  • Thankfully my cousin HAD to have them when she was PG and passed her Citizens on to me, I love them.  I also have a pair of Gap Long and Leans and absolutely love them as well.  Wearing nice jeans just makes you feel better.  You will also likely wear them for a little while afterwards.  But honestly , I probably wouldn't shell out $200 for a pair of jeans right now, i'd just get a couple pairs of gap jeans if that.

  • If you have any small upscale maternity boutiques near you I would check those out.  I bought Paige Premium marked down to 135 from 200.  They are nice and long so I can wear them with heels.

The other jeans I bought were casual Old Navy ones to wear with flat shoes.  I've tried on jeans from Motherhood, Kohl's and Target and they all looked awful on me.  Like some previous posters said, I've heard lots of good things about Gap Long and Lean jeans.  GL!

  • Oh but they are SOOOooo worth it!  I love my designer jeans and couldn't imagine going months without them.  I got a pair of sevens from Pea in the Pod, and couldn't be happier.  They just make you feel like your old self when you put them on.  Don't get me wrong, it was a strech to afford them, I'm a teacher...but totally worth it!!! DH's don't understand somethings!

  • You could always wear them for your next pregnancy.  Or if this is your last/only child, you can always try to sell them when you are through to make back a bit of the money.

  • Try Nordstrom.com!!!!  DH ordered me a pair of maternity Citizens and I love love love them.  I'm very certain he did NOT pay full price, they must have been on sale.  Plus...you can take them to Nordstrom and have them hemmed for free.
  • I found one pair of Sevens at Motherhood, they were on sale from last year's Pea in the Pod line. They were still $100 but soooo worth it! They are way more comfortable than any of my other jeans and look really cute! But. I would not have bought them at full price. My second favorite pair are from the Gap, they have long sizes. GL!
