WWYD: Daycare and food program

My daycare for DD provides all food (yay! I thought) but then she told me she uses generic formula...we've only used Enfamil and for some reason generic formula just makes me a little skeptical...only because it is her ONLY source of nutrition...would you provide your own formula or go with what they provide?  TIA!

Re: WWYD: Daycare and food program

  • Provide your own formula.  That is what we are doing.  Daycare uses Good Start and I really did not want to switch formulas on DS.

  • We provide the formula. She has to have soy. When she gets on solids we will let her eat what daycare provides.
  • Totally your call depending on your comfort level.  And might depend on the generic.  I use generic -- Target's brand of enfamil -- because it was recommended so highly on these boards when I was searching for a formula for DD and didn't like the way Enfamil Gentlease clumped.  Both kids have done great on it.  So for me it would depend on the type of generic and how worried I was about the sensitivity of DC's digestive system.

  • What kind of food program is it? I ask because my MIL is a licensed in-home provider and does a food program as well. She provides formula (whatever kind you tell her your LO eats) and solid foods for when the time comes. She receives reimbursement from the program for providing the food.
  • Take your own. You'll have plenty of time to appreciate the provided food later when she's on table food. I love the food program! :)
