  • Looks good to me!  A friend of mine recommended bringing some Crocs to the hospital.  Not to get too graphic, but she said when you stand up stuff just tends to run down your legs and she ruined some bedroom slippers because of it.  With Crocs you can just wash them off and keep on truckin.  Just somethin to consider!
  • Bring your baby book if you want the nurses to do footprints.  I totally did not do this and regret it now.
  • not sure what your hospital gives but some don't give you enough diapers for baby, so you might want to bring some.  like pack a diaper bag for him.

    also i would say:

    ~ lotion

    ~ music

  • Thanks for the helpful suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

  • Have you done the hospital tour yet? You could always ask about diapers and pads. Our hospital loaded me up on diapers and pads so I didn't need to bring any. Just thinking of ways to save you space. I way over packed for DD, but we're also a couple of blocks from our hospital so I didn't feel like I would be missing out on too much if I forgot something.

Just looked back at the list- for underwear, they give you disposable undies you rip off. I would definitely recommoned to use those rather than reg. underwear. You end up with an ice pack thing to put in your underwear and the hospital pads are really big. This is just for the first few days, but it helps w/ soreness.

  • What about things for DH?  I read on another board post that it is wise to take things for him, inluding juices/water or snacks... it was saying how poor DH had to go for hikes around the hospital to get something to much on or drink... just a thought.  Slipper for him was another one.

  • I am planning on putting in some change and dollars for the vending machine for DH.  Also a calling card, just incase we can't use the cell phone.  Also I plan on putting a pair of DHs lounge pants in the bag too, so he can be comfortable. Don't forget your makeup and styling products such as your straightner and hair dryer, you will be taking a lot of pictures.  Also a pillow for you, may be more comfortable then the hospital ones, and make sure it is in a different color pillow case.

  • I brought an eye mask. I wouldn't have been able to sleep without it. Lights are always on, especially during the day.

Ditto this. I even asked for extra mesh panties to take home. They are priceless.

To each his own, but I could have cared less what I looked like and if you find time or energy to do things, I would be surprised.

  • Just from own experience, I'd take along the Boppy - it's a huge help with breastfeeding. Also, if you bring Liam's baby book the nurses will put his footprints in there for you (random, but they also foot-printed my husband's white T-shirt as well, which I thought was cute). Bring travel size toiletries to save space. If you live close to the hospital and DH will be going home, have a small bag handy that he can take dirty clothes/extra stuff home each day to make going home easier. Nail clippers are a great idea; if you cut his nails, you can skip the mittens. I'd leave home the slippers; flip flops are better in case you have a lot of bleeding. You'll get Tucks (witch hazel) pads at the hospital and be able to bring the open container home. I got a lot of use out of my laptop, but didn't touch the DVD player. Time goes surprisingly fast. Oh, I'd also suggest bringing your own pillow. I did with DD, but not with DS, and it made a huge difference...I had the best sleep ever.
