sleep/nap help needed

My LO is having the hardest time sleeping or napping in her crib well really anywhere but my chest.  (A little history...she has reflux and was at one point in such pain she would scream in pain anytime she was on her back, even for the few seconds I was changing her diaper.  After several weeks of trying different medications, we found the right combo and she is now mostly pain-free and will lay happily on her back for daiper changes, or watching her mobile...so I know she can lay down now.)

However, I have tried and tried to get her to nap in her crib or pack n play. I have gotten her to nap in her crib at a max 30 minutes one time a day (this has only happened probably 4 times).  Usually within minutes of laying her down she is crying and awake.   Please any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Have you tried a sleep positioner that either keeps her elevated or puts her on her side?

  • We brought this to our pedi and she told us he was training us. She suggested putting him in his crib when he is drowsy but awake so that he knows you put him there. If he wakes up and cries give him 10 minutes, feed him and put him back in. This is similar to Dr. Ferber's book which I would highly recommend although the "cry it out" method is not for everyone. The book gave a lot of insight. It was helpful for us.
  • We did something like this.  After 5 days of lo only sleeping for 6 hours...total!  I was exhausted and needed something.  One evening we rocked her a little, put her in her crib & let her cry.  She was tired so the crying ended up not being as bad as I thought.  The first night she was off & on 45 min.  But it was rarely piercing.  Since then, she has easily been sleeping in her crib & we are both MUCH happier people.  I know CIO is talked about alot on here & it's not for everyone, but it worked for us, she was only 1 month...and she's just fine!  Of course I don't let her cry too hard for too long, but now she just really fusses not cries.  It's whatever you're comfortable with, but I feel like a new person now that she easily goes down in her crib!!
