What were your numbers at 4 weeks pregnant? Mine are low at 46 for HGC and 10.6 for progesterone (I am going in tomorrow for the 2nd blood draw). They want me to go on prometrium, but I went on that last time and I am afraid that it prolonged the inevitable (us losing a baby at 20 weeks). Thoughts??
Re: Come in of you had HGC/Progestrone Checked
Ugh, that's tough to think about ....
Hcg levels don't mean much - it's the doubling that matters. When will you get it drawn again?
My progesterone was only a 6.6 at 20 dpo or 4 weeks pregnant (it was day 30 of my cycle - I conceived on day 10) I went on suppositories 2x/day right away and it did the trick.
I definitely wouldn't decline the supplements since a lot of people have success with them. Good luck to you.
My #s are in my siggy.
Definitely go on the progesterone supps. I really don't think it "prolonged the inevitable" last time. I was always under the impression that a decent progesterone level was more important in the first trimester, and you stop taking the supplements around 13 weeks.
Mine were 390 at 14dpo, and 1,053 at 16dpo. But it's not about your HCG number, it's about whether or not it doubles in 48 hours, so the second HCG number is what you'll want to pay attention to.
Also, my progesterone numbers were 16, then 14. I pushed for Prometrium. By the looks of your sig, I don't think the progesterone supps prolonged the inevitable since the loss was due to a chromosomal issue. Assuming there are no chromosomal issues this time, extra progesterone wouldn't hurt.
Good luck!!
First let me give you a lesson in why I think taking progesterone during the 1st tri. couldn't have been the reason you lost your baby at 20 weeks.
You take the progesterone becuase your body isn't producing enough on its own, and by 12 weeks the baby takes over. So if you taking progesterone was the only thing keeping baby alive you would loss the baby at 12 or 13 weeks not 20.
Second Check out BetaBase.com. Remember 14 DPO is what is considered 4 weeks pregnant. And that As long as your doubling in at least 72 hours you have a viable pregnancy (this is what most doctor believe).
Today you are pregnant, Celebrate! And wouldn't you be kicking yourself if you lost this baby too then found out one day that if you had only taking progesterone again this time you could have had your sticky baby. Stop punishing yourself for your past, try to think of what your future holds. I think your future holds this baby, and wouldn't you do anything for your baby.
I don't remember my numbers, sorry. They doubled and that is all that mattered to me. My OB put me on prometrium after my last loss without testing me. She told me it could only help. I credit it to helping me be the most pregnant I've ever been.
When I asked my OB your question she said taking progesterone will not keep a pregnancy that has other issues besides low progesterone levels. It will only help keep a pregnancy that would have failed due to low progesterone levels.
hgc was 238 and progesterone was 20.5 I believe.
I started progesterone right after my et so I think that may have helped.
