Success after IF

when did you first leave LO?

We really need groceries, and I'd really love to get out of the house, so I'm considering making a quick trip to the store this afternoon (as opposed to having my Mom or DH do it). But I'm freaking out a bit at the idea of leaving him, although I figure it has to happen sometime.

Just don't know if I can do it today.

So, how old was your LO when you first went out without him/her?

Re: when did you first leave LO?

  • I ran to the store with DH leaving LO with mom at 2 weeks. I had serious PPD and couldn't do much those first 3 weeks though. I think leaving him to go to the store is a great idea. GO FOR IT!

  • I made a Target run with DH while my mom and dad stayed with her. She was six days old. Go do it. You'll feel better and he'll be fine.
  • DH took me out to lunch and we went grocery shopping a week after DS was born, it was the hardest 2 hours of my life but I survived and grocery shopping isn't all that long of a trip.

  • I left him to run to drop something off at my drs office.  It was a quick trip and I left him with DH.  A few days after birth...I was gone for less than 30 minutes.

I also went to get a flu shot and left DS with my mom for 30 min or so.

  • 4 days?  we went on a two hour date and left him with my parents.
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • Around 2 months, but from what I understand I'm a bit of a loon...I've only gone out without him 3 times, 2 were not by choice (things I had to attend).

  • 3 days old.  DD was born on Nov 1st last year and i went to go vote on the 4th :)

It was less than an hour, though.

  • I've only left him with DH twice for a few hrs.  Other than that, DH and I haven't left him to go on a date, so I'm crazy like schmoodle.  :)

This weekend I am going to leave him with someone other than DH for the FIRST time.

  • I went to target and left her with my mom around 1.5 weeks maybe? Less than an hour, but it felt good.

  • When DD was about 3 weeks old, DH and I went to BRU while my MIL watched her.  We were only gone for 2 hours, but I was freaking out the entire time, but everything was fine.
  • I probably ran an errand or two within just a week or two of him being born.  Go for it!  It will feel good to get out of the house baby free for a short time (weird, but good!)
    Wheee!

  • It was a long time before I left him for even a few hours.  I took him everywhere with me...including Walmart from like day 6.  I just didn't let anyone touch him and made it quick.  Mom went with me due to the c-section I couldn't drive.

  • Apparently I'm a horrible mother. I went to run several errands for like 2 1/2 hours at 2 weeks and didn't feel bad at all- MH is awesome with the babies & I hadn't run an errand and had barely even driven a car in 14 weeks and it was great to feel like a normal person for a couple hours.

And, I went out of town for 2 nights this weekend & they were only 4 weeks old so I guess that really takes the cake for bad parenting. However, I was visiting my father who is hospitalized with a very aggressive leukemia and MH, my in laws & my brother & his wife were all here with the twins so I knew they were in good hands. It wasn't like going OOT for something fun I guess though.
