Babies: 0 - 3 Months

if your baby falls asleep in the car in the carseat..

do you let them continue to sleep in the carseat after you bring them in or do you take them out and but them in their sleep area?  sometimes my LO will continue to sleep an hour or so and I am not sure if it is good for him to sleep in the carseat?  Thanks!

Re: if your baby falls asleep in the car in the carseat..

  • DS gets super hot in the carseat so I try not to leave him there for very long but after work if he's asleep I leave him for a little while so I can start dinner and get chores done real quick in peace.

  • I always let him sleep. Of course, he slept in his car seat for the first 2.5 mos of his life anyway.

  • When he was younger we would let him sleep in it...but now he always wakes up once we bring him inside.

  • I take her out if we're arriving at home. I don't like her to be in a carseat for too long.
  • I let him sleep in the carseat unless it's bed time, then I take him out and put him in his crib.

  • When he was little I would leave him, as long as it wasn't too hot. Now he naps better if I put him in his crib.

  • as long as I am observing her I let her, I put the carseat next to my chair or computer or in the kitchen while I do stuff and I keep an eye on her.
  • I let him sleep.  We have the Graco 32 and he seems really comfy in there.  He never sleeps too long.

  • Yes. When DD falls asleep, she stays asleep wherever she is.

  • i let him sleep in the carseat

  • It depends on how long she's been in the car seat--if it hasn't been very long (running errands around town) then I let her sleep.  If we've been traveling, I usually take her out pretty quick because she seems to get really gassy if she's been in the car seat for too long.
  • We leave DD in her carseat. If I can get it carried in and she's still asleep, I carry it back to her bedroom under her fan and let her sleep til she wakes. So much easier than trying to move her!

  • When he was younger, I let him sleep.  Now, he wakes right up when we get to our destination.
  • When DD was you LO's age we let her sleep. As long as she was sleeping we didn't care where. Now that she is a little older I take her out and put her in her crib and if she is tried she will go back to sleep.

This, until DS was about 2-3 months. Now I transport him from his carseat to his crib.

  • I would let her sleep but she normally wakes up after about 10 minutes of not moving anymore.

  • We let him sleep.  It's perfectly fine to let them sleep in there.

ETA:  The only thing I do is make sure I am watching him.  DS has thrown up a couple times in the car seat and both times he started choking.  It's not the best position for reflux babies.

  • I move him to his crib. He gets too sweaty in his car seat.
  • I let him sleep, but it usually doesn't last too long.  He doesn't like to be in it unless we are in the car (b/c he loves movement).  If I took him out he would wake up too, so it really doesn't matter.
  • Yes, I leave him in his carseat.

  • If it is mid-day I unbuckle her and let her keep sleeping.  If it is night I take her out and put her in her crib.

Same here. Unless it's late at night/bedtime, then I'll take her out, get her into her PJs and put her to bed.

  • I always take her out once we get home.  I feel bad because our carseat keeps her neck a little crooked.
