3rd Trimester

I'm offended

I was reading week 34 of "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" this morning, and it had this "tip" of covering your belly button with a band-aid to prevent "unsightly bulges" under your clothing.

Screw you, YPWBW. I happen to think my new outie is very cute.

  • lmao- unsightly bulge...

i hate to think of putting a bandaid over my button... poo on you YPWBW

  • Oddly enough, I know people it grosses out...Mine has yet to do this, so I don't really think it is something I need to worry about..

  • Seriously.  How strange.  And who really cares? I don't need something else on my stomach.  I already have an annoying, sweaty pants panel.

A question though.  If you always have an outie, do people do that every day?  I think it would get annoying.

  • lol...a friend of mine said she taped a quarter over hers when she was pregnant.  I was like "oookaaay..."  It doesn't bother me.
  • How is a bandaid going to hide my gigantic boobs, which I happen to think are unsightly bulges? Or my lumpy shaped baby belly, how is a bandaid going to make it look perfectly round?

Oh, wait, that's not what they meant.

Seriously, women have that big of a problem with outie belly buttons that they have to mention this "fix"? Sheesh!

  • I read that yesterday too. I feel uncomfortable enough and definitely don't want to have anything taped or stuck on my belly! My belly button poking out is pretty low on my list of things to worry about! stupid book!

  • I guess, I mean, if you WANT to cover it, more power to you, but I happen to think getting the outie is one of the fun parts of pregnancy. I do have a coworker who told me (talking about someone else, not me - I didn't have an outie at this point) how "gross" she thought it was. I think it's adorable.

And I wondered the same thing - so if you have an outie normally, are you supposed to be ashamed? LOL.

  • I read this too and thought a couple things:

    1. Telling a pregnant woman that her belly is "unsightly" can only lead to a disaster.

    2. For those that would like to cover it up, I think they would have come up with the same idea weeks ago.

DH really likes the outie, but I'm not sold on it yet...then again, I can only see it if I'm looking in the mirror.

  • The only time an outie has grossed me out is when the chick still had her belly button ring in.  It was like, all stretched out with this huge outie NEXT to it. Gross.
  • OMG I totally read that this week too and thought it was such an odd thing to include in the book!
  • Guilty as charged.  I have been wearing a band-aid with my tighter maternity shirts for weeks now.  I personally hate my new outie and don't like to draw attention to it...and trust me it is noticeable.
