Swings - better upstairs or down?

Would it be worth it to have a swing upstairs AND down? We received two -one full size and one travel/compact. Does it make sense to have one on each floor or should I return one for a vibrating chair? I should add that our shower is on the first floor, only the nursery and our bedroom is upstairs.

I love the full size one but the small one might be good to keep for travel to grandparents etc....

  • I would exchange one for the bouncy chair.  Jacob didn't even like his swing until about two months.  Before that, it was all about the bouncy chair.  Also,  Iike that I can move the bouncy around easily if I'm in the kitchen, or bathroom or in my bedroom.  We also take it with us if we are going to be somewhere for long periods of time.

  • I would wait and see if the baby likes the swing.  My DD loves the swing and hates the bouncy chair.  I would like to have 2 swings at this point.  We always have to tote our huge swing back and forth from the bedroom to the the living room.  A bouncy chair is nice for things like the shower.  Good Luck!!

  • I like our travel swing for taking into the bathroom and kitchen with me when DH isn't home.  It allows me to shower and get things done.  It's the only swing we have, so he takes his naps in it too most of the time. I guess put the travel swing on the floor where you will need to move it around a lot, or plan on getting 2 travel swings.

Also, I have heard that if you have 2 kinds of swings, sometimes a baby will favor one over the other, so just keep that in mind.

I would buy one and see if LO even likes to swing at all.  DS didn't warm-up to his until he was about 2 weeks.  Before that it was all bouncer, he even slept in it at night.  Now he isn't a fan of the bouncer.

  • We have two swings one on each floor and DS loves them. Our DS loves to swing and has since we brought him home.  We do not have a bouncy chair so I don't know if it would be better or not.
