Babies: 9 - 12 Months

That noise happened again before we left.

I'm so confused and kinda freaked out.

  • you live in an apt? maybe just call maintenance and see if they know what it is.

ETA: our water heater makes a strange noise and it is fine but scared me the first few times I heard it too.

  • That's a good idea.  I only have a half today today so when I get home, if it's still making that noise, I'm calling again.

I'm really weirded out because we've lived in the complex for more than 2 years (in our particular apartment since last July) and I've NEVER heard that before.  It sounded like some kind of alarm.

  • Missed your previous post, but strange bumps in our house have turned out to be bats.  Ugh!  I heard one scratching on the bottom of the bathtub while giving DD a bath 2 weeks ago.  Eeek!  It flew out through our kitchen & front door the next evening.
  • check the battery in the smoke detector. The detector "shrieks" when the battery is dying.
  • I didn't see the OP, but our friends lived in an apt. and suddenly started hearing a weird noise every once & awhile one day.  They called maintenance, they checked w/ their neighbors, and a few hours later they discovered it was a stud finder that was in the bottom of a drawer, with the button somehow pushed down, that was making the noise.  Good luck!!

When the battery dies it chirps.  Unless they replaced it when we were out and the new one makes a different noise.  Maybe that's it, but I'm not sure.  I figured a "change battery" light or something would come on.
