LO's with REFLUX

What were your LO's symptoms? Like what made you/dr think they had it? What was typical behavior for them? DS has been God awful for a while now. We've switched formula 4 times, he's still spitting up/vomitting after feedings and most of the time it is a little while after and it's clear with like cottage cheese looking chunks. Sorry if that's tmi. And lately all he's been doing is just crying and crying. He  was inconsolable today almost all day. Grandma just got him to sleep finally! But he also seems to be trying to swallow a lot too. Idk I'm calling the pedi in the am but figured I'd get some responses/ advice here in the meantime. TIA.

Re: LO's with REFLUX

  • For my DS I can hear him choking up food and he tries to swallow it back down. Then he cries and often spits up. A lot. Also he is not gaining weight well.

  • Crying whenever she was flat on her back, spitting up after every single feeding and spitting up a lot were some of the main things. She would arch her back and pop off when she was feeding and start to cry while she was eating as well.
  • For our LO it was constant grunting more like after each feeding he was clearing his throat it was quite severe.

  • My LO has had reflux since he was 2 weeks old. Went through different formulas left and right, he was constantly gassy and switched bottles a lot as well. I noticed he was throwing up none stop after his jaundice and i called the dr. They recommended that I added cereal to his bottles. He has finally minimized the amount he vomits and spits up but he will continue until his sphincter is mature. My LO is currently on Nutramegin with oatmeal ( 1tsp for every 2 oz) - used oatmeal bc rice binds. This has helped a lot, but it has made him backed up bc of the cereal. Sounds like your LO is experincing the same symptoms of constant crying like mine did bc of gas on top of that. We went to the GI dr and she recommend to give milk of magisium 2ml to help him go poop everyday, which helped him with the gas. I also do mylcon after/before every feeding and it helps. Believe me I have tried everything and it stressed me out. But things are finally getting better and he's now 3 months with still some vomiting/spit up. Good luck hope it helps.  Ps. I wish someone told me all of this before... instead i had to experience it all by myself.
  • My DS started projectile vomiting a lot, so we took him in and they ran some tests to rule out some other things and when they did that they diagnosed him with reflux and put him on zantac.
