Did/does you LO have multiple Hemangiomas?

We just found the 3rd on Liana this morning. Although the pedi said only 4 or more is of concern, she's having us see a vascular specialist to rule out any internal ones. Any of your LOs have multiple ones and did they cause any issues?

  • Keira has 6 total. ?5 of them are very tiny. ?Almost like someone took a red marker and made a dot on her. ?The 6th one is quite large and is on her elbow. ?Our pedi is not concerned at all. ?When I asked him about it (often people have posted on here about seeing specialists like you are) and he said it wasn't necessary b/c none were in the midline. ?We took DD to see a dermatologist who specializes in hemangiomas anyway and she felt all were of no health concern and should recede by schoolage. ?We've had no complications whatsoever.

How funny! Savannah has one on her elbow also. It's getting bigger as she grows too. She has one other on her knuckle, that's like a pinprick. Same as mcdev, our pedi isn't concerned.

  • That's good to know. Thanks for sharing. The pedi said that about the mid-line, too ... and aside from the one right above her pubic bone, she doesn't have any there. The 3 she has all seem to be getting bigger fast, though. Also, since they suffered from TTTS in-utero, which is a vascular disease, the pedi wanted to take every precaution. Good to hear other docs aren't worried about it, though.
  • DS has 2...one obvious one on his forehead and a smaller (but still bumpy) one on the back of his neck. Pedi isn't concerned.  I'm not too concerned if it goes away before he starts school except that the one on his forehead is in prime bumping location when he gets more mobile so that concerns me.  He has already slightly scratched it and made it bleed so I'm going to ask the pedi at his 2 month appt next week,
  • I PM'd you on the private board, but yes, Sadie has 14 and many internally. They aren't causing any issues though. She will have surgery when she's 2 for one of them.
