Im not going to call it nipple confusion... im going to call it smart girl syndrome! I had her with me for 3 days and she latched amazingly then she went to NICU for low temp for 3 days and they bottle fed her breastmilk and or formula and ever since then she wont take the breast but I want her to get the benefits of BM.. Ive tried to get her to latch on again but to no avail.. I still try daily ::shrugs::
X spent 10 days in the hospital, and they needed to know exactly how much he was eating, so I had to start pumping there. When we got home, he never caught on to breastfeeding, although I still try!!
My daughter wouldn't latch. We also saw 3 LC's and they couldn't get her to latch either. She finally latched yesterday and now it's way painful because she is used to bottles.
DD was in the NICU for 23 days (she was 6 wks early) and we had to introduce the bottle to get her out. We still try daily to BF, but she gets really mad about not getting the instant gratification the bottle nipple provides. I do have to say that even though I would like to do more BFing, pumping allows DH to take one nighttime feeding, which is really helping me maintain my sanity!
Re: Those who EP....
We had latch issues. To me it's a PITA but worth it for her sake.
