Exercise Question

Did anyone start working out BEFORE six weeks. I really feel good and want to start like YESTERDAY, but I had a c-section and realize I might not be fully ready internally. Just wondering if any of you start before the 6 week mark?

Re: Exercise Question

  • I delivered vaginally and went for a run after 4 weeks.  I felt great but then I had a little bleeding.  I've been told that you might feel great but that your uterus is still healing...
  • Loading the player...
  • I am taking walks - really short and slow walks. I didn't have a cs though, so you may want to talk to your doc.
  • Yes, but I took it easy.  Walking and biking (slowly) at 3 weeks.  I didn't start running until 6 weeks PP.

  • I just asked some friends this exact same question today... and pretty much got the same answers.

Since there is a lot going on internally that we might not feel is painful, but is still healing, we have to take it easy until we are cleared by the doc.

Walks and things like that seem fine though! I walked around walmart today at a pretty good pace, carried all the groceries up the stairs, stuff like that...

I can't wait to get the OK to start getting rid of this freaking pooch!

  • My chiropractor told me he couldn't adjust my hips or lower back (because it requires rotating my hips) until 12 wks pp because everything is still healing.  That's standard practice for patients who've had c/s.  I'll start on the treadmill and elliptical after I get cleared at my 6 wk check up, but even then I won't start aerobics or anything like that.  I did walk around a good bit on vacation this weekend and didn't have any problems but it was at a leisurely pace.
  • I just did long walks up until 6 weeks.  Didn't want to chance it.  I had a c-section too and felt great, but I worried about the internal stitches.
