DH and I started thinking about buying an additional freezer for storing breastmilk since I'll be heading back to work in March and will want to have a good supply built up. I guess I'm just trying to get a feel for how much space we'll need and how much you freeze at one time. So, some questions...
-Did you/do you have an additional freezer for storage or did you find your current one sufficient enough?
-What size freezer did you purchase? Model? Any complaints or raves?
-About how much do you usually store at a time? (I know this probably varies, but I'm just trying to get an idea!)
Feel free to share any other useful info. Thanks
Re: Freezer Space for breastmilk
With such a large purchase, I would hold off until you know how your supply is.
I pumped for 3 weeks and had a fairly strong supply - 8 ounces every 3 hours. I used the Gerber seal 'n go bags but since he was drinking BM during the day, I would only freeze about 10 oz from the day. I FF at night, so I also had about 25 oz. at night to freeze. The bags can hold 8 ounces even though they are only marked for 6, and they lay flat when freezing so they don't take up much room. Then I put them inside larger freezer bags to keep them dated in order - no fancy organizer needed, that will only take up more room!
