My lil' man is still breech. The problems that make this a even more serious situation are The Dr. thinks that I may be two weeks ahead!I I have already lost my mucous plug and I am dialated to a two ( as of last tuesday) so I am progressing. I need some opinion help ladies. I know it is my decision in the end! I have been all for trying the ECV and now that the day is here to determine if I want to schedule a c-sec or try the external I am SUPER NERVOUS!!!!! He is planning today on doing a sonogram to determine if he is breech and then we will decide! WWYD in my situation?
Re: ECV or C-sec?
There have been women here who have had successful ECV and those who have not. Personally, they scare the hell out of me but I don't know why.
Do you know your Dr's personal ECV record?
ETA - I was already at 2cm @ 36 weeks also, with no contractions or BH throughout my entire pregnancy and Baby Boy has measured (way) ahead the whole time.
It's a very personal decision and one I may have to make in a couple weeks. Really only you and your doctor can evaluate your situation and decide. Of course, the ECV may not work and you'd still have to schedule the section, but I'm sure you know that. I don't know what we'll decide to do, if faced with that decision.
Good luck. I hope your baby flips so that you don't have to worry about it!
I don't know his personal record, He did say last week that in the 20 years that he has been practicing that he has only had two situations where he wanted to do a c-sec. I am going to inquire a little more about it today at my apt. I was dialated to 1cm on fridaythe 28st of Aug and was 2cm the next tuesday (4 days later),
Has anyone ever talked to you about accupuncture. I heard that it can be really effective in turning a baby, and that it happens pretty fast! Good Luck!!
Yea i just dont know if i wanna go through the ecv! I have heard that it hurts from some people and that is is just slightly uncomfortable from others! So that is what i was really going for! Hponestly i would rather do the ecv and TRY to get him to flip, before I just schedule the c-section.
They scheduled the ECV and C-section at the same time for me. I think they just wanted to reserved the date in case the ecv doesnt work. I've been researching it a lot, and watching videos on line. Who knows how much it will actually hurt, but you can always make them stop if its too much.
I'm sorry to bother you again about the accupuncture thing again, but I was just at another message board, and a woman did it this morning, and her baby already turned this afternoon. She also said that her insurance pays for 5 accupuncture treatments a year.
I am scheduled to get an ECV and induction or C-section next week. My doctor likes to do the ECV and then induce right after if it is successful so that there is no risk of the baby flipping back. I will be 39 1/2 weeks so if I need an emergency C-section it is not a big deal. Also if it doesn't work they are just going to do the C-section that day.
I have struggled with this decision too but I got 2 opinions from 2 different doctors and they both think that it is worth a try to avoid surgery. The risks seem really low from what I have researched. My doctor is going to use an epidural before because it is supposed to relax the uterus, which increases the success rate and it will not hurt me as bad. I am not sure if that is an option for you.
I have a friend who had one done without an epidural and she said that it was uncomfortable but not unbearable. She said it took just a minute or 2 as well.
It is definately a personal decision. I am not real excited about having a C-section so I think it is worth a try, however I am a realistic person and I am definately preparing myself for the fact that I will probably be having one. From what I have heard from some people who have had C-sections they really aren't that bad.
Good luck with your decision...I know exactly how you feel.
