Ok - to spice it up

https://theshapeofamother.com/

Does anyone frequent this website? Im strangely obsesssed with it. It scares some of the people I show it to and others find it comforting to be able to relate to some of the stories and photos.

Also - would you ever send a picture in?? Sounds like it could be empowering but I'd be too much of a chicken!

Click on one of the catagories to see pics & stories of recent (and not so recent) mothers.

  • It's a bit.... Different. More power to em' I guess. I have no clue what is gonna happen to my body post-baby. As for now I try not to think about it.
  • Call me vain but I am terrified of what is going to happen to me after the baby is born.?
  • Holy stretchmarks batman!  Some of those pics look ouchy.

Ditto...except you know I HAVE to check out this website now...lol

  • I have a very good friend on that posted her pics a few years ago.  She is one of the luckier ones... but this is reality.
  • LOL.  I make most of those women look good.  Wink

I remember being SO disappointed after DS3.  I lost about 50 lbs and had been weight training for about 5 months.  I looked great in clothes, but I still had nasty, saggy stomach skin.  I thought it would eventually be gone but it never left.

  • I think it's a great site/project.  I wish more people could recognize that a body that shows evidence of having given life is inherently beautiful.  My mom had two 11-pound babies, both C-sections, and 3 hernia surgeries to repair the resulting damage to her abdominal wall, and she still rocks a bikini all summer long.  She says her scars and stretch marks are her "war wounds," and even got a purple heart tattoo to honor them Smile.
  • I've seen the site, but I just have to look in a mirror now.
  • Thanks for this! It is very interesting, but also Yikes! I REALLY hope I dont end up looking like that.  I think with proper diet and exercise you can get pretty close to your old figure back. I know there are some medical exeptions, etc, but in general I don't think we need to be TOO worried....at least I hope not! I guess I am just vain. Oh well.
  • Wow...I hope I don't end up looking like most of those women...my mom's body made a nice recovery, so I'm hoping I do too...
