but I'm sure he could request some xanax or anxiety meds to take that morning so he isn't freaking out.

All the men that I know that have had one weren't put to sleep. It was done the the Drs office with local. Just tell him the "suck it up buttercup"

DH was given the option of 3 choices: sleep (light), doped up, or local only.

LOL - love the responses! Thanks! And I totally agree kevs - if we have to give birth while awake, he can have this done with a local.

Funny side story - for the LONGEST time, he thought it meant getting his balls cut off (like a dog), not just the pipeline snipped. LOL!!!! No wonder he's nervous about it.

Tell him that if the wife was given an epidural during the birth of their child, that is what's used for the husband just to even things out.

My H had local (of course) and IV relaxers. If they get all anxious, the scrotum bunches up and then the docs have trouble getting at it, lol.
