3rd Trimester

Which tri has been your worst?

Mine has DEFINITELY been 3rd tri. First tri I had some food adversions mild nausea and was super sleepy, but only got the urge to throw up maybe twice, second was a breeze, but now, in 3rd, I am seriously miserable. I feel like I'm about 100 years old! My pelvic bone feels like it's trying to split in two, my limbs constantly fall asleep, and the muscles in my upper back are pure knots (despite icy hot and massages). And all of these pains are keeping me from sleeping for more than an hour or two at a time. I can't stand for more than 10-15 minutes before my feet start hurting, and my nausea and tiredness that I thought I left in 1st tri have come back. I'm just not used to this. I'm used to feeling young and healthy and athletic and now I'm just so incredibly uncomfortable.

So for me, 3rd tri for sure! I just hope I can avoid what my sisters have tagged as "momsomnia" (they've almost all gotten horrible insomnia in 3rd tri).

  • 1st tri was the worst for me, hands down. I was SOOO sick!?

  • 1st by far---I was constantly nauseaous and threw up A LOT and couldn't hardly eat anything.  Also was so tired all I did was work and go home and sleep and that is it--really.  2nd tri was wonderful and 3rd is not so great but not so bad either!  I do have the "momsomnia" for sure and that is what is making me the most miserable.  I can live with anything if I could just sleep!
  • First, by far. I didn't have a lot of sickness but I spotted all the way through, and my first ultrasound was very scary (long story). So physically it wasn't awful, but it was mentally/emotionally exhausting. Well, and I was on prometrium too and that made me super tired.

  • I'm not sure I can say, it's a toss up between 2nd and 3rd. I was feeling Horrible the end of July into August, but shhh *feeling slightly better now*

  • 1st tri was really bad. But I've had a chronic cough almost the entire pregnancy and it's worse now, despite SIX prescriptions. I'm going to go insane if I don't get rid of it.?

So.. I'm going to say 1st & 3rd.. b/c the coughing is horrible where LO is on the bladder and almost everytime I cough, I pee. Not just a little. TONS. It's ridic. ?

  • Weeks 7-16.  That was when my m/s was the worst and I was throwing up 3-7 times a day.  Sucked horribly.

  • Compared to most people none of them but for me 1st. I was sooooo tired and my back hurt from week 8-16 so bad I couldn't walk.

This.  I was sick 24/7.  I'll take all the aches, pains and discomfort of 3rd tri any day over that.  And trust me...I also feel like I'm 100 yrs old right now and I'm not even 29 weeks yet.

  • I came back pretty anemic with my CBC drawn with my Glucose. Start classes tomorrow, while still working about 26hrs a week (using PTO to hit my F/T hours). Not to mention that Ethan has become determined to not let me find a comfortable position for both of us.

I actually had to pull over on the side of the road last friday driving home, I got so lighthead I knew if I didn't I was gonna pass out. (Hubby repositioned my seat and apparently it was still in to much a of a recline that Ethan cut off blood supply.) I love being pregnant and really can't complain but the lack of sleep plus the anemia is making me so tired I'm ready to collapse all day long.

  • I agree with the OP. This trimester has been by far the worst.

    1st tri: I had a few mild aversions & that's about it.

2nd tri: I felt absolutely amazing!

3rd tri: First the babe found my sciatic nerve & then she found my bladder. Now she found a nerve that goes down to my pelvis. I can barely get comfortable at night. I've had a yeast infection. & I can't even reach my toes to paint them... Shaving my legs has become a chore too. UGH!

  • 3rd, only b/c i was diagnosed w/ GD and i can't eat my favorite foods.. not the end of the world tho.. i've had it pretty good
  • I was just saying to DH that I feel like I am back in 1st tri! Nauseous, tired and no appetite. 5 weeks to go!
  • I'll agree with OP...definitely 3rd tri...1st tri was fine, just a few adversions and tiredness, 2nd tri I felt great, but 3rd I feel 100 years old as well!  But you know even with all the aches and pains I can't say it's been too bad.  It's managable, some days more so than others.
  • 1st by far! I was so sick week 6-14 that I had to quit working. Don't get me wrong 3rd hasn't been fun either with the sleeplessness, peeing on myself, hip/back pain, and baby kicking my insides but atleast I can move and eat without getting sick.

  • I'll say this trimester. My feet have been so swollen, so far that's my only problem.

  • If you asked me last week, I would have said 1st.  However, it looks like I'm one of those lucky people who gets 1st trimester sickness in the 3rd tri.  I've been throwing up at least once a day for the past week.  I've also developed daily migraines.  At least in 1st tri I felt this way but could still fit in my clothes and sleep at night.

  • Not even a whole trimester, but since week 36 I have felt miserable.  I have loathed being awake and alive for the past two weeks.  I feel like I'm 80 and dying.

  • 1st tri may have been the worst, I was nauseas 24 hrs a day, couldn't eat and was too tired to do anything.  2nd tri I had spotting off and on, which caused me to be freaked out all the time, but besides that I felt great.  3rd tri I have had PTL, back trouble, momsomnia and I am very uncomfortable all the time, oh and now my pelvic bone feels like its gonna break in two.  But still, I think 1st tri won the prize, I just hate being nauseas and vomiting.
  • 1st, but not because of morning sickness. I was spared that luckily, but my moods were ungodly.

  • While all 3 has had its points.....I am going to have to go with 2nd trimester only because 4 weeks of it was spent on bed rest......ugh
  • 1st tri by far.  No matter how miserable, uncomortable, sore, tired and hot I am now, at least the world isn't spinning and I'm not throwing up.  1st tri is always the worst.
  • Gee, do I have to pick just one?  lol

First tri was horrible.  Luckily I was laid off for the winter so most of that period I laid on the living room floor wanting to die.  M/s was horrible all day long.  Although I never actually threw up, I was constantly on the verge.  The tiredness was debilitating and unbelievable.  Everyday I just wanted my husband to put me out of my misery.

That lasted well into my 5th month but once it went away the sciatic nerve pain kicked in with a vengence and I was in constant pain, although I would rather have that than the nausea.  I never got the 2nd tri energy or sex drive my husband was hoping for.  lol  Oh ya, I also had numerous occasions of spotting through my 2nd tri.  I had 5 ultrasounds before I was in my 6th month.

I'm in the 3rd tri now and the sciatica is better for the most part, well, livable but I'm exhausted again and lots of pain from things moving but the worst part is the heartburn and acid reflux.  I've had it for months but now it's gotten to the point that even if it's been 5 hours since I've eaten before I go to bed, I wake up choking on acid and just can't keep it down.  I have to sleep sitting up with my Pepcid next to the bed and even that isn't a total help.   I usually end up crying in the middle of every night because of the pain.

Whew, can't wait for the next pregnancy!  lol  But, with all things considered, I know it could be worse.  So far, baby seems to be doing great and that's what's important!  I am making notes so I can remind her of all of this when she's a teenager.  lol

  • Definitely 1st- tired all the time not a lot of nauseua but defnitely feeling of yuckiness plus some scary 2nd quad resultsin 2nd tri but all in all good.

Lately just feeling fat in general :-)

  • 1st tri was the worst for me. I had no energy and was sick the whole time. I just worked and slept.

2nd tri was better and 3tri has been fine. I've had some occasional sciatic nerve pain but that's it.

  • 3rd Tri has been my "worst". But, in reality, it hasn't really been that bad. I have some nausea and swelling. Along with fatigue and soreness by the end of the day. Nothing that I can't handle so far...

  • That's a hard question for me... 1st was bad b/c of morning sickness, exhaustion, bloating, headaches at the end, etc. But now in 3rd tri I can't stand the back pain, headaches, sleeplessness, and general discomfort. And yes, I know I still have 10 weeks to go!
  • First! Even though I am just begining my 3rd tri (3rd child) I can deal with aches and pains better than nausea! I hate having an upset stomach.
  • 3rd by far.  Sad considering I"m only a couple weeks in.  I think it is payback for having it soooo easy in 1st and 2nd.

  • 3rd Definately... Between the pee-coughing and nearly snissing myself daily. Also the Constant acid indegestion and heart burn nightly and peeing 3-4 times a night. Im getting to the point where im ready to be done (I guess i'm having one of those days.). I never thought I would say that because I have LOVED being Pregnant. The Last 2 weeks I have been miserable with all of the above and the feeling like she is going to stick her foot or arm out of my crotch at any second with all the pressure. Also my tail bone feeling like its being tore to pieces.

  • so far, first by a mile. I'm only 31 weeks, though, we'll see how the next few weeks fare.

Same here.  I've had a really easy pregnancy overall, but from the very week I started 3rd tri I've been much more tired.  And then I got pubis symphasis and walking is now painful.

  • 1st was the worst and it didn't get any better going into the 2nd. I have morning sickness still and ended up losing a lot of weight in the 1st tri. 2nd tri I was on a roller coaster of gaining and losing. 3rd tri the morning sickness is less and I finally am gaining. I passed my pre preg weight and have gained 11 pounds since.
