Are Huggies diapers any good?

They are on sale at Shoprite this week so I wanted to pick up a box for when LO arrives, but wanted to see how you ladies review them.

Re: Are Huggies diapers any good?

  • from what my girlfriends have told me, they are absolute crap.

It's worth the extra $4 for Pampers.

  • They are the only ones I used for my LOs. I started using the Target brand recently also b/c their size 6 is bigger than Huggies size 6, and DD #2 is a monster. Plus they are way cheaper. Both are very good.

  • I have no baby. You might want to try the 0-6 board. They have babies there.

  • From what I've heard, it really depends on your baby.  My SIL loves Huggies and they work the best for their child, but another friend can't use Huggies, but prefers Pampers.... I think it has to be trial and error!

  • I've never had a problem w/them.  They give out better coupons than Pampers :-)

  • I have 7 sisters, 4 of them have kids and all have had horrible experiences with Huggies. They all prefer Pampers, but some even choose Luvs over Huggies.
  • Most people I know have sworn by Pampers.  My SIL loved Huggies.  I have gotten mostly Pampers but I do have one box of newborn Huggies we are going to try.  Like PP said I think it's trial and error.
  • luckily at my shower i pretty much got a pack of every brand...so for me it'll be a trial and error

  • I really liked the Pampers Swaddlers, never really used the size N,1 or 2 Huggies.  Size 3 is when I switched to Huggies, I hated the Cruisers and the other Pampers in the green pack, they have a really strong smell to them and I didn't care for the material they were made of.  Costco diapers are alot like Huggie Supreme.

What crawled in your vag and died? ?

I am pretty sure that there are some second time moms on this board that can offer up useful advice. ?I asked on here b/c I figured that other people on this board may be wondering the same thing. ?

    ?

Thank you to the rest of you for your response.?

    Wow!  7 sisters?!?  That's a big family!

  • Every child is different.  DS wears all brands of diapers (including generics) and has never had a single blow out or leak.  I actually like the way Huggies fit better than Pampers.  But, again, every child is different.  Just try a few different kinds and keep your mind open.

  • They work well for my LO. We used both Pampers and Huggies and I don't see a huge difference in our case.
  • I have been stocking up on diapers and just saving my receipts in case a brand sucks.  I think it's gonna be a trial and error thing really - I wasn't going to pass up any sales though if the deal was good enough. I can always exchange any unopened packs.
  • I prefer Pampers or Luvs to Huggies.  Huggies leaked for me and gave my niece bad diaper rash.  I think it really all depends on the baby tho...some people have good luck with them...enough that they're still top sellers!  Diapers are one of those things you just have to experiment with to see what works for you and your LO.
  • We went ahead and bought both huggies and pampers, considering the huge amount of coupons we had for huggies we thought why not. The newborns for both brands seem to be pretty much the same. So we will see how they work when he gets here.

LOL WOW, sensitive much? It was an honest answer. Believe it or not, some people don't even think of asking the post-tri boards.

  • I use Pampers for my little guy. He gets diaper rash from any other brands. He does have sensitive skin. I would not be opposed to using Huggies or other brands if they work for the one on the way. I think that in most cases it is trial and error what works for your little one.

  • I used Huggies Supreme for my son only when he was about 18m old. They gapped and didn't fit him at all until then. The funny thing is I had a huge super chunk for a baby.

I used Pampers Swaddlers and then Cruisers up until then. I think I'm going to use a mix of Organic Baby and GDiapers this time. I also plan on looking into a service.

All diapers fit babies differently. I wouldn't stock up on diapers if I were you. They take up a lot of room and you never know which will work best for you and your baby. Then you have to deal with exchanging the packs you have at home, etc... It's just a pita.

Diapers are always going on sale. Plus each pack comes with a $1.50 off coupon for the next pack usually. You will also get coupons in the mail now and then.

  • ditto about trial and error.

i actually love luvs, but for overnights i wound up using the huggies overnights one size up bc DS was a tummy sleeper and a very heavy wetter who leaked through every night once he hit about 4 months.

and FWIW, the pampers overnight/extra protection are CRAP compared to the huggies overnights as far as leaks go, but pampers in general are good diapers...just expensive.

  • My sister said she preffered papmpers for when the baby was younger- they're softer on the butt etc. huggies keep the moisture away from the baby but they are rougher on the butt- more rashes etx so she stuck with pampers.

  • With DD i loved pampers while she was really little, but after the first couple months Huggies is what i have used, DD had sensitive skin and once i used huggies for awhile i had to use them because if i changed she would break out.  I have never had a problem with them, and now that she is in pull-ups huggies work best because she is a big girl and they are made a lil bigger than pampers.

  • I never had any luck with anything but pampers. But my cousin who had twins used them.
  • The majority of my friends who have kids swear by pampers.  They say that Huggies leak and their kids pee through them.  I've only bought pampers so far when they've been on sale so I guess we'll see.

  • ultimately its trial and error with your baby. I got both brands at my shower so I will see what works better for me. truthfully I'll try anything on sale and see what works best for my baby and my budget.

hmm...I am pregnant with my 3rd so some women do have babies here. Just saying...

  • Trial and Error!!!

For my DDs:  Pampers gave terrible diaper rashes (I think it was because of the fragrance they put in the diapers.    They were also ill-fitting and leaked horribly!

regurlar Huggies suck too.  The ONLY diapers I've liked so far (from first DD to this DD) is Hugglies snugglers (the red pack) or Huggies pure and natural.   Excellent fit for my girls, no fragrance (I don't know why diapers would have that), and no leaks EVER (this includes first DD).

So - don't tie yourself to one brand until you've tried them all:)

oh my... really had to use an expletive? Sensitive much?

  • My friend has noticed that the Huggies unbilical cord care is keeping the wet away from the back on her son, it's all in the front:) So there is a recommendation for you.
  • With DD I found that I really liked pampers swadlers but I switched to huggies when she hit size three.  It's all about trial and error to see which are best for you and your baby.
