Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How long did you need to use your nursing pillow?

Right now I feel like my nursing pillow and I are attached at the hip! I lug it around everywhere - I've tried nursing without it but it's uncomfortable and I find myself straining in awkward positions.

When did you feel comfortable nursing without the pillow - or is it something I'll always need?

  • I think I used it for about a month.

  • I still use it at home most of the time because it's more comfortable, but I was able to nurse him without it probably around 2 weeks.  He kind of likes to just lie there and not be manhandled so it's hard without it, but I started practicing at home around that time so I could NIP if I needed to.   It's still not as comfortable or easy without it, but we manage.

  • I still use it for almost every feeding.  We are on vacation in Grand Cayman right now and I made sure there was room to carry it on with us!!!  At home, I have two...one for upstairs and one for downstairs.  I think there has only been a handful of times when I haven't used it.  Call me lazy, but I like to multitask (grad class reading) while feeding if needed and this makes it possible.

  • Using it right now! I love it. It allows me to be hands free. I hope to use it for a long time to come...
  • Had to?  2, maybe 3 weeks.  But I still use it on the couch.  It's more comfortable for both of us, I can kick up the recliner,  drink, eat, etc...but as soon as she got a little less floppy I could go without and do in bed, in the nursery and while NIP.  I also think there's a little bit of mommy muscle that needs to be built up no matter what shape you were in pre-preg -- holding  a baby to nurse is somewhat awkward and requires strong...I don't know forearms?  It does get easier though.

  • I still use my boppy.  So much easier for me to feed, and I do not have to hunch over.
  • I just use it when ever we are at home just because it's easy and comfy.
  • I still use it (LO is 5w old).
  • we are still using the boppy she is 7 weeks.
  • I'm still using the Boppy and my DD is almost 4 months old.  Its so much more comfortable.  Sometimes I use a pillow if my boppy is upstairs and I don't feel like going up to get it.
  • I still use my boppy and DS is 11 months old.  I thought that I was wierd for still using it until my friends whose DD is 13 months said that she still uses hers.  FWIW, I don't nurse anymore.  DS self weaned, so I was an EP and now I'm just using up my milk stash to get to 1 year.  Anyway, I still use my boppy when I am sitting in the rocking chair with DS.  It's just more comfortable for the both of us.
