Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Ok, tell me how you get through this day.

The first day of daycare...oh my goodness, how in the world do I get through the rest of the day?! He was fine, playing with some toys and then I said goodbye, and then the crying started :*(

He was better when I left, I could see him through the window being held by the teacher, but UGH, that was SOOO hard. They said I could call anytime, but will that just make it worse?!

Sad

  • I'm sorry, I don't have any advice...just wanted to say, good luck!! You can do it!  Smile

  • Call, call, call - they are totally used to it and you will probably feel 10x better when you hear how he's doing.  Call multiple times a day if you need to!  Also, leave early and go get your LO!

  • I did call the first week around 12:30. That way I knew she had already served lunch and would have a sec to talk. They know you will call and will be just fine about it I am sure.

Your LO will be fine, it's harder on you than them. Just try to take it easy tonight and each night this week and hang out with your LO as much as you can. Also, don't be surprised if they are a bit clingy this weekend. Totally normal.

GL it will get better each day/ week

  • I don't think calling is bad. it will giveyou peace of mind.It might become an issue if you call every hour, every day! But for the first week or so,they understand. DD is at daycare where I work, and I thought I would be one to visit often, but now I worry that if I visit it might throw her day off. The first week or so is hard, but it does get easier. And in just the 3 weeks she has been in daycare, she has blossomed. She used t fuss when i left her, but now she is smiling when I leave. She plays with the other kids, she is great about going to other people, and she is getting more motivated to crawl. Daycare is going to be a great for them, and they will develop so many skills. Hang in there Mama, it gets easier!
  • Thanks for the words of encouragement girls, it is very much so appreciated :O)
