3rd Trimester

Discharge Questions- TMI

Okay, multiple discharge-y questions.

1)  Have you started leaking from the boobies yet?  Mine hasn't and all of my books have said it should be starting soon.  I know everyone is different, just curious if yours has started.

2)  I have started having a white, milky discharge from the vag.  I read that mucous is increased before delivery.  Anybody else having that go on?

Re: Discharge Questions- TMI

  • yes, and yes

    1) I only "leak" when Im in the shower or just out of- I have to push a little for it to come out though

    2) Yes- I thought I was the only one- I asked my doctor last week and she said it just means I'm closer to "The Day"... I hate it though!

  • I already had my baby but since it's slow I'll answer:

     1. I never leaked. Whether or not you leak has no bearing on what your supply will be. Don't push it out though - especially not this close to delivery. Your baby needs that colostrum.

    2. I didn't have a discharge but from what I read on here, a lot of people do.

Zoie- your baby is sooo cute :)  I haven't been pushing it out, but it has been making me nervous that I won't make enough milk.  I know that's illogical, but I still have that fear!

  • Aww thank you so much!

And don't worry about your milk supply. If you're not making enough there are a lot of ways to increase it. And if you try it all and nothing works, don't beat yourself up over having to use formula. I supplement and it's been great. I still get the bonding of breastfeeding and DS gets my milk but my husband also gets to have that bonding with him and feed him sometimes and can take over for me if I need or want to go out for a bit without the baby. Or so I can sleep longer and he can do some feedings too.

  • 1) I haven't had any discharge yet but I know none of my friends did either until after their little ones were here.

2)Yes, definately have a lot more of the discharge that you described. My doctor told me to only expect it to get worse as you approach delivery.
