Re: The SAHM Book Club Weekly Check-In
I have finished 9 books.
I just finished "The Locust and the Bird" by Hanan al-Shaykh and really liked it. It's the story of the author's mom, who was forced into marriage at a young age, got a scandalous divorce and did a lot of things that were against tradition.
I'm currently reading #10, the second book in the Sookie Stackhouse books, "Dead in Dallas," by Charlaine Harris. I probably won't read more of them - I think the TV show is written much better than the book. But they're a quick read, which is nice sometimes.

*Your 2009 reading goal:since i am starting late, i woudl say 30 books
*How many books you have read so far-15
*What you are currently reading-The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy. I am still looking for a good novel.
*Any books you'd like to recommend- I love books by Charlaine Harris. They are quick reads but they are still good. Also, Phillipa Gregory
I finished Time Traveler's Wife and loved it! I haven't seen the movie yet and now I'm afraid to since I loved the book so much. Has anyone else read the book and seen the movie? What did you think? Anyone who is interested in reading it, I recomend it but it did take me a few chapters to get used to how it is written.
I'll be reading a book called Barefoot next. It's another one that I bought for the beach but didn't get to.
MEEEEE!!!
I decided to see the film FIRST then, read the book and I'm almost done with it. I'm always disappointed when I read the book first and then, see the movie so, I am now doing things in reverse and SO HAPPY I DID IT! The movie is really great, so moving and romantic and sad all at the same time but, as usual, the book is much better.
The movie is NOT disappointing... go see it!

I finished That Old Cape Magic. Really good. Although I was rooting for the wrong guy to get the girl in the end.
I don't know what to read next. Maybe I'll peruse some of Drunkenwife's lists.
Hi!
I finished "Handle with Care" by Jodi Piccoult, and am now reading "The Dive from Clausen's Pier" by Ann Packer. "Handle with Care" was kind of unrealistic (in my opinion) and "The Dive from Clausen's Pier" is just too slow...looking forward to starting something else soon.
CONGRATS Read2Me!!!
I completed all the books listed on the spread sheet, as well as (38) Avatar Book Two of Two (Star Trek Deep Space Nine); (39) Audrey's Door; and (40) Stalking Susan. I'm currently working on (41) The Successful Child, a Dr. Sears book.
FYI, Stalking Susan is actually the first book of a series, Missing Mark being the first one I read. If you're interested in a good mystery, these are fun and well written, if a bit easy to work out. However, to keep up the suspense, I recommend reading them in order, although the author is good at filling in plot points where necessary in MM.
