3rd Trimester

If this is your 2nd baby (or more!)

anyone else having trouble getting motivated? I feel like I have done nothing to get ready for this baby! I will start on the nursery soon (we moved since having DS). I know I should be reviewing the BF books and doing more prep for natural childbirth but somehow, I just can't find the motivation. We have yet to pick a name either. I have a number of small items to buy but I feel like I'm busy with a million other things. I did start doing prenatal yoga a few weeks ago and I'm enjoying that. We're taking a natural childbirth class that starts tomorrow, so maybe that will get me moving in the right direction.

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

  • Subsequent pregnancies are not like your first, when everything is so new. Plus, you're tired from having another LO at home draining all your energy with endless stories and block building, not to mention chores and cleaning...

Oh yeah, I'm tired just thinking about all I do everyday (or don't do because I'm too tired to do them).

  • Let's see, we have no furniture except for the rocker from DD. DH is in the process of redoing the nursery since we just moved into the house. DS has no clothes in the newborn size. I feel like our time is running out since we are due in between holidays. I really want everything done by the beginning of November but who knows if that will happen.

  • LOL!  Yesterday I brought out a baby seat and that is ALL I have done so far.  We went with one of the names we had picked out if DS was a girl because we didn't want to rehash it all (we figured if it was good enough for DS it was good enough for this one, LOL!).  I have 5 weeks left and DH will be gone for almost 3 of those and nothing is done!  We, too, have moved since DS so all of our baby stuff is in storage.  oops!

  • I have the nursery done, but that was purely b/c I knew I'd be way too busy with teaching this fall to do anything with it, so I got it done over the summer when I had time. Name was picked long, long time ago. lol

I too feel like I should be reviewing for BFing, and doing more to ready myself for a med free childbirth, but, I just don't have the time. So, it probably won't get done.

I think already being a mommy just leaves you with less time to prep like you had with the first- and, you have some real life experience now, so, hopefully it'll mean things go more smoothly!

  • Girl, I am totally with you! I am 35 weeks and have SO much to do. I keep thinking that I have time but it keeps sneeking up on me! I've got to get my butt movin'!
  • yes ma'am! I am having so much trouble getting motivated to do stuff-this poor baby probably feels neglected! chasing a very active 2 year old and working night shift probably doesn't help though:)
  • It definitely took me longer this time but don't worry, at some point, that nesting WILL kick in!!! Big Smile

  • Oh no...you are NOT the only one! My daughters are both school age (12 and 7) however I am so exhusted I have absolutely no energy to do anything at all. My DH is deployed so at this point everything falls onto my plate. I did cut back on exercising and wish I had not done that as that may have helped somewha; so please know that you are not alone.
