I'm posting this on a few boards- just wondering about the actual effectiveness of this bc- my ob has me on it b/c I was bf-ing, but I've recently stopped. I'm wondering if I should switch methods of bc? Thanks for any feedback...

Re: XP: BFP while on mini-pill?
I was on the mini-pill when I got pregnant with this one. Granted I didn't take it perfectly but I never took the regular pill perfectly either.
I would switch if I were you, i'm definately going to look at something else after this one is born
My BFF did is and she is not knocked up.
I am a huge fan of the IUD. I used it for two years before trying. Wouldn't use anything else ever again.
The mini-pill while BF has a horrible effective rate. If you are counting on this to keep you from getting pregnant I'd substitute an additional method. Or try Mirena, an IUD/IUC that can be inserted instantly and removed just as easily should you change your mind.
If you are no longer breastfeeding obviously you need to be on a traditional method of b/c now.

My OB told me to call and switch BCP immediately after I stopped BF (we decided to TTC instead
.
I want to say it's something like 70% effective if you're not BF. Not exactly sure but if you Google it you can find the exact percentage.
BFP 5/07 - Kylie born 2/08. BPF 2/09 - Alexandra born 10/09.
TTC since 8/13 - diagnosed difficulty conceiving due to LP defect. Took vitamin B and Vitex Berry to help lengthen.
BFP 2/14 - Missed M/C found at 8.5 weeks. D&C at 9w2d. Partial Molar Pregnancy.
BFP 11/14

I guess I just wanted everyone to reply that it worked for them 100% and not to worry now that I've stopped bf-ing! LOL
I take it every day at 9:30 am- 99% of the time, so I'm kind of worried that maybe I need to switch bc methods...
My insurance includes Mirena and my doctor said that I have to wait until 10 weeks after I have the baby before they will insert it so I have to be on the mini-pill until then.
Unfortunately, my ins doesnt cover Mirena (or any other bc, for that matter!), so the pill was a more affordable option. The traditional estrogen-containing pill is not an option, however, due to my history of migraines and a family history of stroke and blood clots
Did your doctor say why you had to wait 10 weeks? I'm curious because after DS my doctor inserted mine at 7 weeks, and I"m wondering if things have changed in the two years since I got it, or if it's just different doctors.
