On September 2nd!! 1 day before her due date. She was 8 lbs 10 ounces, 21 inches long. Such a healthy girl. Short version of the birth story is, well it was the hardest thing I have ever done. Went into labour at 2 15am....walked around, took a shower, called my mom all that good stuff. Contractions were managable at this point. Decided around 9 30 to call the mid-wife. She said to come straight to the OB's office and get checked, and we would see how things were. When I got there I was 4 cm. I was hoping for more, but was fine with the progress. She said I could go ahead and head to the hospital. We decided to take our time, and headed to the park to take a nice walk, and have some tea. At around 11 I was ready to get to the hospital because I was really feeling my contractions and wanting to get into the jaccuzzi tub!!! So, we got there and first of course they want to check the heart beat, and monitor for 15 minutes. Laying in the bed was very uncomfortable, but I just kept breathing through the contractions. Finally I get into the tub, I am 5 cm its about 12 o'clock. The tub was amazing! The contractions were so strong, I had to focus with everything I had and breath through them. I laboured in the tub for probably 3 hours with help from DH and my mom I was able to manage my contractions. DH was wetting my face with a cold towel, and my mom would dump water over me when a contraction would come. I can't describe the intesity of the contractions it was like nothing I have ever felt. I had to place myself in another world, and breath and moan through them. So, I got out of the tub, and was checked I was 7 cm, moving along! the contractions were coming so hard and so strong now it was SO SO hard to stay calm. I am so thankful for the team of people, DH, my mom, and sister who helped me through each one. Everyone did exactly what I needed some how with out me even telling them. I went to the go pee and my water broke at about 3 pm, I was finally at 8cm......transition here we come. This was an intense part, and I honestly have NO idea how I did it. I just had to relax my body even though the only thing I wanted to do was fight back with the contractions. At about 4 15pm she checked me again and I had just a lip of cervix left that she said we might be able to push through. I was feeling a lot of pressure in my back/bottom area, and the contractions were back to back at this point. She work on moving my cervix while I tried to push her had past that lip. This was so frustrating and painful, it took 45 minutes to get her past that of intense contractions/pushing/hands in the vag.....finally I get to really push. It took me 1 1/2 hours of pushing to get her to come out!!! I didn't think I was going to be able to do it! There was so much pressure, and I was scared to push through that pain. I finally just got really angry and bore down one last time. Finally she is out. I screamed when her head came out because I felt myself tearing, but once the body was out all that pain was gone. They gave her to me for a moment, but she had passed mecomium in me so needed to make sure she was breathing ok. Once they got her crying they brought her to me, and it was the best moment. I had a 3rd degree tear, and lost a TON of blood but it doesn't matter!!! She is here and she is amazing. She eats like a champ, and my milk has come in which is great. I am very sore from the tear, but know that it will pass. I am so proud of myself for making it with out even asking for drugs!! My family is amazing and supportive and couldn't be happier with her. So, here she is Mrs. Ayva Grace.
