I was so excited to start using CDs on my newborn, but I think I permanently stained the first batch I'm using a combination of GMD orange edge PFs and Kissaluvs/Swaddlebees fitteds with covers.
I had enough to do a load yesterday, but I probably waited too long. (Thurs-Sun). I got the washing directions from pinstripesandpolkadots.com (Cold rinse/prewash, followed by hot wash/warm or cold rinse). I'm using 7th Gen Delicate Care detergent and have a front loader, so used less than 1/2 the amount. I did the wash and the dipes came out very stained (the dark yellow French's mustard kind). I went back and rewashed the diapers alone with a tiny bit of detergent rubbed into the bad spots and they came out just slightly better.
I am so exhausted from being a new mom and because of the pregnancy brain I realized that I did the prewash on HOT instead of cold - ugh! So I guess I set the stains in by doing this. Is there ANY way to get rid of the stains besides sunning on a clothesline? We just don't have the right space outside for a line now, but I may have to improvise if that is the only solution. I'm so bummed because I wanted to keep these nice for reselling on DS or HC.
TIA

You should be fine
As long as they don't smell!
To get the stains out...hang them in the sun to dry
You can hang them already dry but if they are wet it seems to work better. So you could get them damp with the sink and hang them if you need and the sun will bleach the stains right out, especially at that age
ETA: I just read that you couldn't hang them outside
Like pp, if you have a window or french/sliding glass doors, or just somewhere in the house that has sun coming in you should be able to hang or lay next to it and it will work the same
First- congrats on the baby!
Second- Poop stains. It is a fact of life. However, the sun will do magic to get them out! If you can put them in the sun while damp, even in a window, you will be shocked at how good they come out. All is not lost!
Third- Give yourself a bit of a break
I promise that you will still be able to sell them later. The stains will come out!
Thank you all! I'll try sunning them in the windows the next load I do just to see how it works. I'll not worry about the stains until I'm ready to sell them - I have no time for extra work right now. We have a sliding glass door and I can probably rig a line up to do a few at a time. Its amazing that the sun would bleach the stains completely out.
Thanks!
i've always found that the newer the diaper the more they attract stains. That being said, the more you wash them, surprisingly, the more the stains will come out.
i wouldn't worry about the stains right now. come spring (yes i know it seems so far away from right now) you'll be down to very minimal staining and a little sun in the window will get it right out.
try not to be so hard on your self. it is poop after all.
