Anyone here deliver early due to this?

So I just started having contractions about 3 days ago. They can be timeable for an hour and then slowly fade. My cervix is not changing, but I have been put on bedrest for a little while. They have checked everything and have no reason for feeling these. They said that some ppl are just chronic contractors ( or have iritable uterus) and have these intense, painful BH for the remainder of the pregnancy. So I was wondering how many of you had this problem and did it make you end up delivering early? I am terrified of going into labor now..... thanks :)

Re: Anyone here deliver early due to this?

  • Do they have you on any medications? Did you get the steroid shots?

I had an irritable uterus due to all my bleeding (I was an abruptor) and was on procardia around the clock and would get shots of terbutaline when things were extra bad. I ended up delivering at 29.5w when my labor couldn't be stopped. Unfortunately once your body is truly in labor, no amount of drugs can help :(

Just be honest with your docs about what you are feeling and how bad things might get. They can only help you if you're honest with them :)
Good luck!! I hope you last a lot longer!

  • I had an irritable uterus as well, but there was no reason behind it. Often I would have contractions just minutes apart without feeling them at all. I was also on Procardia around the clock and would get terb injections everytime I was sent to L&D for monitoring. I went into labor at 32w6d and delivered at 33w2d. I was bedrested from 26w until I delivered.

  • I had them from the second trimester on pretty much on a daily basis.  I was sent to L&D at 34 weeks when they noticed them at a NST.  I had been having them since around 20 weeks but just thought they were BH just a lot of them.  I was given Procardia and they sort of stopped them but not totally.

Mine never changed my cervix, they were just annoying.  I was induced early at 37 weeks due to pre-e.  At the beginning of the induction, my cervix was only a fingertip dialated so these contractions were not doing a thing to start labor.  My ob guessed that I would have gone to term had they let me.

This was also my third child so I thought they might have made me go earlier, but they didn't.
