Pedi Interview Questions

We have an interview with who I hope will be Bennett's pedi this Thursday.  She came recommended by a family member, but I still want to know she's right for us.

I have a few questions lined up but thought you all could help add some more important ones to my list.  Any thing you can think of will be helpful!

TIA, Sara :)

Re: Pedi Interview Questions

  • When I was looking for a new pedi, I asked:

    1.  If your office is closed and I have an emergency, what is the procedure?

    2.  How difficult is it to get an appointment?  My last pedi, if you made an appt the day before, you couldn't choose the dr and you had to wait until all earlier appts had been seen.  I didn't like that because you don't get notice when your child is going to be sick.

    3.  Office hours?

    4.  Immunization schedule

I can't think of any more but I was on the phone for a good 1/2 hour.

I asked about language because I only speak english and I have trouble understand thick accents so I prefer a dr without one.

  • Emergency procedures as pp stated, What hospitals are they affiliated with, When you have an emergency are you talking to one of the doctors in the practice or do they cover up with other practices, How do they happen alternate vaccination schedules (my son had reactions to 4 shots at once, but when we split them up 2+2 with a one month delay he was fine), how does the doctor feel about breastfeeding (I wanted a dr that would be supportive in my efforts with a juandiced baby). This is all I can think of right now, I will think of some more after nap time.
