We were able to come home with baby Chloe yesterday! She is our little angel! Aside from still having jaundice and having to wear the biliblanket all day and night, she is doing wonderfully!
As for the actual birth, here is a shortened version of what happened. We went in at 5am and got settled into our birthing room for our scheduled induction. I was apparently already having mild contractions though I didnt even feel them. Around 715, my OB came in and broke my water and started the pitocin. That hurt like a MF-er!! I pretty much immediately started having strong contractions that were about a minute and a half to three minutes apart, though most of them were a minute and a half apart. At about 1130, I was given an epidural because I knew I was only 4 cm at that time and in for a lot more pain and no time to cope with it. About 4 oclock, I was still 4 cm dialated, and my OB reccomended the C section because he was not optimistic that I was going to dialate any further due to my short stature, and the fact that we thought Chloe was going to be much larger because I had gestational diabetes. We consented to the c-section, and 37 short minutes later, on August 26th, at 4:37 pm, weighing in at 7 lbs 1 oz and 19.25 inches, Chloe Lee C.made her grand entrance! The recovery has been hard, but I am dealing with the pain, and know that it is worth it, and in a week or two, I will be pain free and loving my little girl even more.
If anyone wants the more gorey and honest details of my birth experience, PM me, and I am happy to share. I don't know how hard the recovery is for vaginal delivery, but I can tell from experience that the c-section is no walk in the park, and in fact, I am hoping that I forget how aweful the pain has been so that I can have more children in the future. Also, make sure your SO's are prepared to help a LOT! I thank the lord every day that my mother was able to come help because my DH is having a rough time with giving up his sleep...
