Do you plan your meals?

I usually plan our dinners for the 2 weeks of every paycheck.  This usually saves $100 at the grocery store because we only buy what we need for those 12-14 meals.  Now that I am having some m/s, I am wondering how well I can stick to my menus and not puke!

Anyone else?

Re: Do you plan your meals?

  • I use to.. so instead of planning the meals ahead of time you could just figure out how much you can spend each night for dinner that way you can buy what you want that night but still have a budget.

  • I usually do the same. ?Sadly, we haven't been able to stick to that. ?At first we did plan out meals and then if I just couldn't eat it, I'd find something else to eat that night. ?But then it got so bad and I wasn't keeping anything down that my husband would go to the store every two days and just get some bland things or whatever I thought I might keep down that day.

Things are getting better and we started planning out our meals again....but we keep things on back-up in the cupboards incase I decide I can't eat it that night. ?(like plain pasta or pbj) ?

  • But then I have to drag 2 kids to the store everyday.  Tongue Tied

Your screen name looks familiar.  Do you have other kids?

If this is in reference to me.. No.. we are cautiously expecting our first!

  • I do a loose menu.  Generally stuff you buy will last the week, unless it's say, fish.  Try to buy meat etc with the "latest" sell by date so that you can choose any of your purchases each night, depending on what you feel like eating.  If you end up not wanting some of it, toss it in the freezer :)

Sorry, it was in reference to you!  I swear I have seen you on here (or the knot, or nest) before!

  • I do plan meals, but I don't stick to an assigned day (Like, I don't say Monday we're having spaghetti and that's it, I say "sometime in this two weeks we'll have spaghetti" so I can choose which night i want it).

And then I usually get a few nights worth of "quick/random" meal stuff like a can or two of chef boy r d.  Or one of those Campbell's Meal In a Box things Just in case I don't feel like eating any of my other choices.

  • I don't but I always mean/want to!! I seriously think I need someone's actual list (not just the names of the dinners) so I can work from there lol.

I'm going to add Tums, Ritz crackers, and baby carrots (for some reason, those really helped me.......wonder if that's why DD loves her some baby carrots now?lol) to my list now and go from there. I find if I have even 3 crackers and a swig of something to drink, the nausea went away.

  • I did before pregnancy. ?At about 8 weeks, I stopped because everything I had picked out for the whole week sounded terrible. I am feeling better, so I may try to start again.

I think it's amazing that you can plan that far ahead! I have no idea what I want tonight. DH and  I run to the grocery store every day for dinner stuff, and it's always last minute! I am terrible at meal planning.

You might have to go day-to-day until you figure out what you foods you have a "taste" for. That could change by the week, too.

We are the same way. We take dinner one day at a time.

  • I've just been trying to get general things that haven't made my sick in the last few weeks.  But, my stomach guides me up to the minute.  I will call hubby when I leave work and suggest something but then when I come home want something else b/c the thought of the first makes me sick;)  It's hard!
