Babies: 9 - 12 Months

what are your LO bedtime/wake up time?

DS is usually ready for bed by 7pm, but the last couple of days he has been getting up at 4:45!!!!!  He seems to go in cycles where he will sleep past 6am for a while, then it is in the 4am range...he is waking up to eat.  Just wondering if I am expecting too much?  Then he is ready for a nap by 7am!  I try to feed him and get him back to bed but that doesn't work either.   Could it be a growth spurt?

Re: what are your LO bedtime/wake up time?

  • DS still wakes up around 4am to eat, but I put him right back to bed and then he sleeps until 7ish.  I would try going into your son's room with the lights off, feeding him, not changing him or playing with him, feeding him and putting him back to sleep.  He's still tired...he'll learn.

Edit:  OOPS.  I clearly didn't read your post all the way.  Sorry about that.  Could you slowly push back the time that you go into his room until you've got him back to a more reasonable hour?

  • DD sleeps from 7 pm to 6 am. Every once in awhile I hear around 5:00 or 5:30 and I just let her fuss around and she usually falls back asleep. I don't get her out of her crib until 6:00.
  • Bed time is between 6:30 and 7 and he wakes between 6 and 7:30
  • we've been working on moving DS's bedtime from 7 to 8 because he was getting up too early (between 5 and 6).  We started by delaying his first nap, pushing back eating a few mins each day, and waiting on bed time little by little.  So far, we are about 7:40 before he turns into a pumpkin and he's sleeping until about 7 each morning now!  HTH

  • bedtime 7 ish. wakeup 6-6:45.

i would push back the bedtime slowly. i personally wouldn't feed your LO at 4 but that's me. even when she woke once she dropped her night feeding, i gave her a paci and sometimes took her in bed, but i didnt want to start the habit of feeding her in the middle of the night ever again.
