I had a convertible. I got rid of it. I would not feel comfortable with DS riding it one.

I don't think there is any difference between a top up or down on a convertible. Either way, if it flips, it's a good chance you're in a lot of trouble.

I wouldn't do it. He loses his breath when the fan blows on him I can only imagine what it would be like for him with the top down during a car ride.

I wouldn't. Not worth risk IMO, even if chances of anything going wrong are low.. Just not worth it.

Nope. I dont like riding in convertibles myself- both because of the safety factor and because I hate having the wind blow on my face like that. I wouldnt put my kids in a convertible for the same reasons, but twofold.

No and my mom wouldn't let my sister ride in a jeep without the top when she was 9 years old b/c of the safety issues.
