What is the potential risk if a child rides in a ffing carseat who has outgrown the harness height? I swear I just read the answer somewhere, and I can't find it anymore.
We're still at the hospital. My parents were going to take DD home with them for a little bit. It's about a 45 minute drive (30-some miles). Her shoulders are about 1/2"-1" above the top harness height. I insisted that we move our carseat to their car. DH thought we should just let her ride in the outgrown seat.
WWYD?
Re: WWYD Carseat ? - FFing height limit
Thanks. I'm still searching for it but having no luck.

I was just looking at our manual yesterday to make sure DD was still within the limits. We have a Britax Marathon and the instructions said that as long as the top of the childs ears were below the top of the back (or under 40 inches) was fine.
ETA: Hit enter before I finished- My point was that it depends on what the recommendations of the seat are. If she doesn't fit, she should be in the seat she does fit in. I think I remember reading something about the risk of being too high in a roll over b/c the back would provide some head/neck protection? That could be completely made up though..since I don't remember where I would have read that...
The 40 inches is actually just a guideline. The shoulders must be at or below the top slot of the harness, and the top of the ears should not be above the top of the shell. If the shoulders are above the top slot, the seat is outgrown.
That would be awesome! Thank you. I spent 30+ minutes on google and gave up. DH still doesn't seem to think it would be a big deal. You know, I don't even know what kind of seat they have or what the weight limit is either.
