When I called to make my first appt, the nurse asked if I was taking PNVs, and I said I was, and she said "Ok, as long as you are taking something with folic acid thats all we care about".
Um ok. I'm taking Target PNVs with the Expecta DHA supplement.

I'm taking Rx prenatals. They are PreNate Elite. My OB recommended them before I was pregnant because she said that many OTC prenatals do not dissolve completely before leaving your system. The Rx ones are guaranteed to dissolve quickly so that you get everything in them. Whether or not this is always true, I don't know, but after hearing that, DH insisted that I only take the Rx ones since they are the same price monthly as my BCP used to be. So we're not spending any extra money on them.
I just had my first doctors appointment this week. I brought the vitamins that I've been taking over the counter, "Rainbow 1". My doctor said they are more than fine. She also said to take folic acid and omega 3 as a supplement if I want. But either way she said that if the over the counters work for me there is no reason to switch.
I will be taking OTC after my current Rx runs out. I am taking Prenate DNA. With my insurance (NC state emplyee) the Rx was $54.84! My Dr. says OTC is fine.

Re: OTC or Rx Prenatal Vitamins?
I'm a target girl as well. I also take the Expecta Lipil for Omega 3.
I have been taking them for 5 years and dd turned out just fine!

ditto!
I'm taking flinstones too! Just once a day is all my doctor said I need because one has enough folic acid. All the other prenatals made me nauseous!
I took flintstones with my last pg. My OB had me take extra folic acid.
Not sure which Rx I am on now.
This, but with a folic acid supplement.
I was just curious if I should be concerned about continuing with my Target prenatals. My dr. prescribed an extra 1 mg folic acid supplement.
From the responses, it looks like taking an OTC while pregnant is common.

Me too.
I'm taking Flinstones and folic acid OTC. I was very sick with regular prenatal vits and am afraid to go back.
