I've been thinking about cloth diapering to help save some money but I have no idea where to begin. Do I make my own diapers? Do I buy them? What brand? How many of each size do I need? What about one size diapers? What is this about inserts and covers? I am so confused. Help!

Re: Tell me about cloth diapers.
Whatever you do - don't buy Gerber Diapers. I got some as a gift - worse than useless. Go to one of the sites that these ladies recomment. Green Mountain Diapers, Cottonbabies, Modern Diapers, Jillian Drawers and Nickis Diapers are some of the sites I have used and have been happy with.
I just did JD trial. Just be aware that when you do the trial it is 10.00 (which is refunded in you keep everything) you also pay shipping and if you return stuff you pay return (insured) shipping. For me that came up to about 30.00. I kept some things but not everything.
I think a good SAFE way to start and not invest to heavily on things you wont use again if its not for you is to get some prefolds and covers. Maybe just 12 PF and a few basic covers. If you or your DH hate it, then you can still use the PF for other things like burp cloths, pass them onto a friend or resell them. Either way, you are only out 12 dipes and a few covers. That is what I did becuase I was afraid my ADD would kick in and I would not want to continue. Turns out I love and don't mind investing in additional and different kinds of diapers.
