3rd Trimester

Im a "Chronic Contractor"

Yup, so I started having contractions about 3 days ago. I have been monitored everyday, had internals and just about every test imaginable and everything looks great. There is no reason I am having these contractions and the DR said that some ppl are chronic contractors and just have them until they deliver. OH GREAT, I get to be in false labor for 2 frickin months? LOL Its better than him coming this early, so I guess I cant complain. Im on bedrest til my OB appt Tues, when she will decide if I can go off of bedrest or not. It stinks because I REALLy want to pick up DS and give him a big kiss, but I cant lift him :(

Re: Im a "Chronic Contractor"

  • Totally in the same boat. I've been having contractions since 24 weeks. Isn't it AWESOME?
  • Loading the player...
  • same boat too! i have been having contractions and actually dilating since 28 weeks so im on bedrest, but here is the kicker me and DH are staying with his parents until i get taken off bedrest...how freakin lucky am i? lol gotta love the MIL!
  • Yea My mom lives next door so I moved all my junk to her living room and her, my dad and sisters have been helping DH with watching DS. So we are truly blessed for that, but man is it boring!

  • What a bummer. At least the baby is staying put.

My girlfriend had contractions from 24w on and started losing her mucus plug at 28w with her second child last year.

I had a couple hours of contractions. Painful contractions this morning. I never experienced this with my first son. It's scary to think about having a baby at six months. Plus I will have to have an emergency c-section if I go into labor. I'm just taking it easy, or as easy as I can with a three year old, and not worrying about it for now. I would like this guy to stay put so he can be healthy and I can have my regular scheduled c-section.

  • We should have a club. The "Oh you were in labor for 32 hours? That's nice, I was in labor for four months" club.
  • LOL I WAS in labor with DS for 43 hours and thought that was bad, whichit is really, but 2 frickin months of painful contractions for no reason?! Oh boy! I am just praying I get taken off of bedrest on Tues. I can try and cope through these contractions but let me play with my son :(

  • count me in on that club!
  • Ok I have a really dumb question...

How will you know when you're really in labour?

My doc told me to call him when they got closer together because mine have been every 12-15 minutes for a month now. They started at 15 and then went to 12 and I had to go to L&D to get a shot. So everytime they get closer I have to call him, but I'm 1.5 cm, so I don't know if it's different for other people.

  • I am too. I have been off procardia for week or two, had my 35 weeks OB appt last week and she seems to think I will not last another week or two. But I honestly think its not going to happen unless being induced, this is my 4th and they have all been like this.....
  • Mine will be timeable at 5mn apart for like an hour and a half, pretty painful too. Then they will just slowly go away. Like the contractions will become less intense and become sporadic. Then the pain will come back. I dont know what in heck is going on in there. My nurse said there is no reason to remain on bedrest if Im not dialating. Um ok, so what if I begin to dialate, what if being active causes me to dialate. IDK this is all confusing. I think Ill know im in labor because the pain will remain constant and intensify. Not to mention my water breaking. Except Id want to know im in labor as early as possible so I can get some steroid injections for his lungs, etc. I have a feeling Ill be that annoying lady in LAD quite often for the next 7 weeks.....
