When did you start using the play mat?

I feel like I should be doing more with her at 2 weeks other than holding her.  When she has her period of awake time, I talk to her and make silly faces, but that is about it.  Should I start using the play mat or doing some other activity?

    She's probably too young for it - we got ours at about 6 weeks and he wasn't really interested until 8 weeks.

    You're doing everything you should be right now.  The most interesting thing for her right now is your face!  Our pedi also recommended tummy time right away, you could try that, too.

    I tried ours twice so far and she only lasted about 2 minutes before wailing. I'll just keep trying a couple times a week and see how it goes.

    When DS is awake I put him in the swing, the bouncer, or rock him in the rocker and read to him.  Today we went on a walk in his stroller and on a car ride - but he fell asleep doing both those activities.  I know, I don't know what else to do with him when he is awake either! :)

    We started our LO on his play mat at 6 weeks and it was a few weeks later before he started to really enjoy it.

    I like giving her baby massage using some baby lotion.  It's also fun to put her in the boppy, put music on and "dance" by moving her arms and legs.  I don't remember when I started that, but she loves it.

    about 1-2 weeks.  at first was only for a few minutes at a time and gradualy worked up to 20 minutes by a month or so.  he loved it!

    DS is 7 weeks tomorrow, and he is just starting to get interested in his play mat.  At 2 weeks, I mostly would sing to him, make faces, talk to him, work on eye contact, do a little tummy time, and move his arms and legs. 

    I think anything you can do to stimulate his brain and body is helpful!
