Traded her paci in for her hands?

DD suddenly has no interest in any of her pacis, even though she used to love them prior to this week.  She has also started to put her hands in her mouth and try to suck on them, although she hasn't quite figured out the logistics quite yet, so she kind of puts them in her mouth and slobbers on them while making sucking noises.  Will this end up leading to thumb sucking?  I'd rather her suck on the paci since it can be taken away later, but she is absolutely not interested at all anymore.  Anyone else have this going on?  Any tips to get her to re-discover the paci?

  • i wish i had some tips for you, but DS has just started to do this as well.  i'd be interested in what others have to say...

my thought is that they've discovered that those are their hands and they can put them in their mouth.  my MIL seems to think that DS might be starting to teethe.

  • DS sucks on his ring and middle finger. This has been going on for weeks, but he only does it to comfort himself to sleep or when his mouth hurts from teething he chomps on them. I don't mind -- he can't lose them like a paci in the middle of the night. If he's having a hard time going down he'll still take the pacifier.
