What time did you show up to your own shower?

Obviously my shower is not a surprise. My mom wants me there early, so she can spend time with me but I feel awkward being there as people arrive. Any shower that I have been to, the guest of honor shows up a little bit later than everyone else. What are you doing?

Got there on time. SOme people were there, some were not.

I'm w/ your mom- your the guest of honor, it's not a surprise. Be there to greet your guests.

I went over an hour early. I wanted to be there to welcome guests. It was nice to spend time with each person as they arrived since you dont get to have much 1 on 1 conversation once the shower starts

Although I started running my mouth and not paying attention to the time and still had curlers in my hair when the first guests got there (they were early)

I would get there early to enjoy the arrival of your guests....once the room fills it will be hard to talk to everyone so you can have a couple early arrivals marked off your list! Plus if you know about your shower and it is not a surprise I think it is rude to not show up on time. People are busy and have taken the time to come see you...get the most out of it you can.

The latest we've been was an hour but that was only because DH's mom's side are notorious for starting late. You say come at 6 and yet a majority won't come 'til 7. Ironically everyone came on time for once! As for my other showers I was usually there before the designated time or 15-20 min. late.

I'm just going to be there first along with my friend the hostess and my mom. THat way I can greet people as they walk in.

imo, if it's not a surprise, you should be there to greet guests as they arrive, but should not have to help w/ set up

I was there early I helped set up last minute things , was there with my family for some alone time before the shower then as the guests came I had a chance to talk with them for some the only chance.

I will be going early. I don't see the big deal. Maybe I could offer to help with last minute things they might need help with.

I plan to be there early. I did that for my bridal shower; i kind of greeted people and thanked them for coming as they arrived. I liked doing it that way so as soon as it was over people started leaving and didn't feel they needed to stick around to wait for the bride to talk to them. My friend's was a "surprise" and I think it was twice as long as mine because she had to stick around after talking to everyone, she looked SO tired by the time she got to leave.
