Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Omg I just judged someone really badly.

I was looking through facebook pics.  This girl I went to NURSING school with was giving her 2 month old rice cereal.  At least it was from a spoon and not a bottle but wow.  Seriously?  She's a medical professional she should know better. Indifferent

  • reflux? I know many people who started their baby on rice cereal early. Maybe it was OKd by the pediatrician. My MIL and DH insisted I give DD rice cereal at 2mos because of her sleeping so bad, I did it once and it didn't make a difference.

  • to each his own. lots of people give rice cereal for reflux. it is one of the most prescribed things pedis tell parents to do at a very early age.

without all their background, why judge?

  • I talk to this girl alot because we both have infants and I'm 99% sure he doesn't have reflux so yeah I wouldn't judge if that were the case.

    Thanks Alli!

  • You gave your kid a pickle.

And your point is? I let him taste it he didn't eat the entire thing.  He's not 2 months old either.

Oh I see, so a pickle (which is not recommended ever) is ok but cereal "early" in your opinion, but most likely recommended by her Pedi, isn't.
  • Maybe he is colic? I had a friend who's baby had such bad colic and just screamed all the time. The DOCTOR told her to put rice cereal in is formula.

Oh and btw I started my dd on cereal when she was 3 months because the doctor told me to, are you going to judge me also.

  • I must be a terrible mom. I started giving DS rice cereal in his bottle at 2 months. The doctor told me to do 1tsp per oz because of his spitting up issue. It is recommended to babies who spit up alot so the formula is thicker....helping it stay in the stomach better. I felt that was a bit much so I only did 1tsp per bottle. I probably should have done the amount I was told to do since he still spit up a bit.

Go ahead and judge me. I don't care.

  • An experiment for you to do in 5 years.

Line up all of the kindergardeners in your Ds's class and point out the ones who had rice cereal before 4 months old.

  • I don't understand the diff between putting it in a bottle or giving it with a spoon..
image Alcoholism is not determined by how much you drink or how often, but by negative consequences in your life that do not alter your drinking habits.

LMFAO. ?This was my first thought upon reading this post. ?

EFLO, this is not a situation to be judging without knowing all the facts.?

  • I am starting to get why people on here flame you all the time.

    lol.

  • Don't worry we all judge you to be an idiot. What is this "NURSING" school you speak of?

  • It is prescribed for some babies with severe reflux...and yes from a spoon... being a nurse fresh out of school you should know this.
  • meh - whatever. .  you probably had it before 4 months when you were a baby too.
