You had a problem with a fast let-down when you were BFing, right? What did you do about it?
Last time, I had supply issues and always had to supplement. This time I have a ton of milk and it comes out FAST. The poor little guy is flooded with milk as soon as he starts nursing! A lot of times my milk lets down before he even latches on. I'm glad I have enough milk for him, but he gets really fussy when he nurses and we always end up with milk everywhere.

I had a fast let down too. I think it was partially contributing to dd's stomach upset. She was a good latcher right away though and just sort of became a speed eater. Since the milk seems to be overwhelming him, do you think you could pump a few ounces before he eats or maybe hand express a bit into a nursing pad? Or, if it's REALLY strong, wait for it to stop shooting out?! What a nice problem for you to have this time around. Your milk will regulate in a few weeks and he'll most likely become more confident with his latch.

Ugg, that's almost as much of a pain as supply issues. It's really an oversupply issue and the only real solution is to wait it out and let your supply regulate itself. I found that pumping or hand express just a little bit before feeding was helpful but don't do it too often or it will make the problem worse. A lot of the same things you would do for engorgement help. One thing I've heard work is too pull baby off right after letdown and catch the milk with a towel (or a cup - why waste good stuff right) until it slows down a bit and then put baby back on.
Hope that helps a little bit and I hope everything is going well with you guys.

Coreen - I am SO thrilled to hear you say you aren't having supply issues this time (though it sounds like having a quick let down isn't so great either)....I know how hard you worked to get your supply up last time.
