I hope you don't mind me posting here......but I thought you may have experience with this. Any comments/advice appreciated.
I am on cd18 and 6/5dpiui. This cycle we did B2B IUI and TOTAL sperm count was at 2.8 million (1.7 and 1.1). Last cycle was 3.1 for the single IUI. My dr didn't seem "concerned" so much with the 3.1.....but now....seems a little concerned.
We are still seeing my ob/gyn, unless we decide to move on from IUI.
My dr. called me a short time ago and told me that these numbers don't mean that we won't get pg and it's not indicative that his count will always be low.....but that he doesn't want to string us along.
He said that because of the low counts.....our next step would probably be IVF. BUT he mentioned male supplements to help bring the count up, etc. Has anybody's DH taken any supplements and have you found that it has helped his numbers? If so....what has he taken?
Re: Repost from TTTC ~ Low sperm count.....did your husband take supplements?
So so many things affect count. We did not do supplements. We did IVF/ICSI but had a late m/c. We got pg on our own several months after that. I think his count and other numbers improved naturally. MY DH is always, always sick so his count can be higher at other times during hte year.
I didn't see if other counts were off - morph and motility.
I wouldn't see an obgyn for an IUI, but that's me. I had 2 failed IUIs with an obgyn with a post wash count of 3mil or so - our SAs were at the lowest at 11, 12 and 14. I think we had more than one done.
When we did IVF/ICSI our count was 25mil before the wash and we still did ICSI.
My dh's numbers were about 7mil/mL pre-wash. His urologist started him on clomid and he's now up to about 10-12 mil/mL pre-wash. We were about to do an iui when I got pg.

My Dh has severe male factor, counts less than 1million post wash and we went straight for IVF/ICSI. He did have a varicocele repair, and as of the 6mo mark we saw some improvement, but we need to see how the 1 yr follow up looks. Our RE recommended ConceptionXR supplement and he did take them for about 6mo post op. They are expensive and since I am currently, PG he stopped taking them until we are ready to try again. Like I said, we saw some minor improvement to his counts, but it is hard to say if it was the surgery, the supp, a combo or just coincidence.
His urologist was not a fan of supps, but said they can't hurt but he is not sure they are worth the $$$.
GOOD LUCK!!
An important factor is the motility. Is his motility still good? My RE doesn't do iui with less than 1 mil motile. Also, are these post-wash numbers? Dh's lowest post wash count was 2 mil but 56% motile so we still did iui. His post wash counts ranged from 2 - 34 mil for our 5 b2b iuis. As you can see the numbers can vary greatly! DH also had low morph. Both the RE and urologist felt supps wouldn't help so other than a daily mulit dh never took anything. The urologist felt his issues were most likely genetic or related to the fact he was a preemie. If I were you I'd probably move to an RE but hopefully you won't have to!!! GL with this cycle!
